Welcome to the new Results page, a great job done by our Slotracer online admininstrator JasonB

The results can be entered by Stage as the results are posted by the hosts, which means that as this is a "live" system, things might look a little odd until each Round has been completed and all the results have been added.

Talking Utter Slot

In the latest episode of Talking Utter Slot: Sean Connery's Slot Car Tuning Tips (maybe), we launch the campaign to ban B.O. and Pedro declares (again) his choice for slot car of the year despite it being only Easter.

I have recently been cataloging my collection of cars and bench marking them so I have some figures to refer to when I spend a bit more time on tuning.  For this I have decided to use as one objective method the time each car records for a 50m distance @10v, and then later the best times for home track and club track.  If anyone interested Tamiya makes a nice little speed tester for their Mini 4WD cars and I adapted this for slot cars.  Can either measure speed on km/h or time to cover a set distance.

While doing this one of the Carrera DTM cars decided to give me a face of white smoke which in turn got me an ear bashing from Mrs Dazee....
After testing the car with a new motor and everything good, I decided to see if I could fix the smoked motor instead of using a nice new one.  Reading a few posts across the web, I got alot confused and then just followed some reckless advice to just do it and expect to fail the first 6 times!

I dutifully took the motor apart, making notes on turns in the wire, direction etc and ordered a couple of small spools of enameled wire.  .1mm and .26

The Carrera motor wire looked the same as my new .1mm spool so I used that first, as I also order the longer quantity for that too and thought enough to make a couple of mistakes.  The original motor having 187 turns of wire on each arm, I rewound with the new wire to 150 turns - ran out of fingers and toes for counting at this point...

The rewound motor ran, but got hot pretty fast.  At this point I was not sure if this was due to the fewer turns I used, or that I took a real close look and possibly botched ones of the arms enough to have a short.  So took it all off and tried the larger wire.

.1mm to .26mm does not seem like much difference, but heck it meant alot fewer turns.  I was able to get 45 and that was it!
Test running at 6v and 8v was no issues at all.  But when trying 10v my test power supply choked, so I went and got my track power to continue testing.  At 10v it drew just over 2A but ran happily and fast - a time only bested by a 30k motor I have.

Happy enough to go test this car further now and also maybe look to get some more wire stock in different sizes to try some more down the line.

Nothing burst into flames, so I call this first step a success!

I have been struggling to find a suitable location to build my track. I live in a dormer bungalow so the loft is out as the roof height is too low. Can't use the garage as it's one of those concrete ones so everything gets damp in the winter. Thought about a fold down track hinged on the wall, but the only room with a big enough bit of spare wall was the kitchen. It would have folded down onto the kitchen table which would have been ideal, but not really practicable. We've got a spare room but the grandkids sleep there regularly so a permanent track there was also out. I can't put it on the floor because I know it will just get trodden on. I was be beginning to give up hope when an idea came to me; construct a baseboard in the spare bedroom that can be easily taken down and stored under the bed when the grandkids come to stay.

I just saw a Ninco Ascari and liked the look of it, not hoping for great performance but it might be quicker then the Fly Viper I am using in GT3,  am I wrong or are they ok, It doesn`t matter much, it was cheap and and can be used as a club loaner if it`s not......

Just had a fabulous day spent supporting Mission Motorsport at Bicester Heritage.
Something about the iconic venue that makes the whole slot world come alive.
Here we are setup in the gorgeous Morgan Works Garage (venue used to film the Turing Machine in the Imitation Game).

Whilst I know the Aeromax cars are SCX, does anyone know if Scalextric have ever done a Morgan?

(Not sure why the attached appears upside down, but if you click on it, it appears correctly)

I bought a couple of Flieshman slot cars about a year ago. Wondering if thier motors go by a specific name? And can someone tell me what top rpm they can achieve?
 Thanks
