I’ve done some more on my ESC project for a brushless 1/32 slot car.
The commercial ESC I have, now has an ATmega 328 microcontroller, it came with an ATmega 8 so I replaced it for a decent spec variant. Writing code for brushless commutation is very challenging and interesting.
I now have the ESC functioning fairly well on the bench, powering a Rockstar sensor-less 3500kv in-runner 2s (8.4v) motor. (From a mini z R/C car).
I’ve also just purchased an outrunner 3/4s 2750 Kv, so it will be interesting to see how that works. I found an old worn out chassis to "experiment" with.
I am kind of new to slot car racing and I have a rather good Chinese made 1:43 scale slot car track that I can run just about any brand of car on. The problem is it comes with crappy controllers and I would love to upgrade them. The plug the controllers come with are a 3.5mm mono stereo type plug. I would like to know if they make a good controller that I can use with my set or what solutions are available. Thanks
Direct connection from Ninco digital track rail to computer with special USB cable.
Modification of the Ninco Digital lane extension track to achieve a direct connection to the race management software on the computer, bypassing the power base. It works with all versions of the control unit. It is possible to build the Start rail and/or the pit lane connection.
Prices:
Start rail connection Euro 50.00 + shipping;
Pit lane connection Euro 60.00 + shipping.
Prices include conversion work and special USB cable.
The price of the relevant tracks is not included, which you will be responsible for sending to me, to avoid excessive transport costs (I would have to buy and then resell).
Management software is NOT included, downloadable from the internet from an independent manufacturer.
Contact me for more information.
Shipping worldwide.
The occasion is welcome to remember that I can provide compatible Ninco Digital chip for digitalise slot cars.

THE WIRRAL SLOT CAR CLUB are hosting a Can Am challenge event on the 27/04/24
The rules are for 1/32 scale cars that participated in the Can Am races in North America from 64 to 74. The club has taken the CSCRA CAN-AM rules and made slight adjustments to run the fixture.
There is a list of eligible cars from NSR, Slot it, Thunderslot, MR Slot Car Carrera, Fly, Monogram
and resin models too. The fundamentals are S-Can motors only up to 25K, mounting position free,
original interiors except for Carrera and 3D chassis are allowed. Cars must be open cockpit. ( although there is evidence that enclosed cockpit cars did compete for the sake of illustrative context, we are only allowing open cockpit.)
The format is 3min sprint races with a prize for the Sprint Cup , then we have a break with a presentation by Steve Hills of TRUSPEED to explain and answer specific questions on how to get the best out of you Apex or any of his controllers but more specifically the Apex which can be complex.
This is then followed by a 6 Min Endurance Race with a prize of Enduro Cup then the combined distance of the two events will then go towards an Overall Victor Cup.
Steve will be on hand to give advice on settings as he can note the particular driving styles of the racers and give bespoke help.
If you are interested please reply so I can send you a set of detailed rules and eligible cars as well as administrative details required to attend.
I have a set of inserts in the Fuchs style, which I bought from Pendles, for a Porsche rally car in my collection. These come in standard-fayre off-white resin. The rivet counter in me wants them painted in the classic Fuchs silver-over-black. So, how do I achieve this? Obviously airbrushing the black first, then applying the silver, is the way to go. But.......... What method do I use to apply the silver? I thought about soaking a baby sponge in the paint and then (carefully...) wiping the insert across the surface.
What am I missing? How would you do it? Would you even bother?
For information, this is the style I'm talking about.
Thanks in advance,
Stuart.

SRC has now launched the Porsche 914/6 GT RALLYSLOT LEGENDS 2023.
It is a white painted lightweight Chrono version of the Porsche.
If the car is used for competition, it is recommended, according to SRC, to apply varnish/paint to the bodywork.
There are only 315 units produced of this limited edition Chrono Porsche.
For the Rallyslot Legends 2023 drivers this exclusive edition car can be ordered at a special price.
More information can be found on the SRC.es site:
https://src.es/en/products/porsche-914-6...gends-2023.
I will bring the Porsche 914/6 GT RALLYSLOT LEGENDS 2023, together with some other SRC rally slot cars, to the UK Slot Car Festival next May.
You can then test this version yourself on my newest rally slot track "Slot Rally Hill¨.
I hope to meet you at Gaydon.
Here are a few pictures of the car on that track:

My Fly kit Porsche 911 has a very floppy front axle. I haven't actually measured the play in it, but it must be several millimetres. The lugs on the chassis don't have enough material to allow drilling and screwing-in grub screws to limit the up-and-down travel. It seems to me that the only solution to the issue, on this particular car, is to glue a tube to the chassis. This isn't something I have attempted before.
As the axle is 3/32in - or approx 2.38mm - what internal diameter tube do I need to use? Is 2.4mm going to be too tight??
Thanks in advance,
Stuart.
