Scratch Building

Shots from the 1929 FIAT build
  • Flying Fiona 1929 FIAT There have been debates over the years over what exactly constitutes a scratch build. No such questions arise with Tibbs’ build of Flying Fiona, a 1929 FIAT. When you recreate a period chassis in brass, build your own leaf springs, make a steering mechanism, and mill your own small scale drum brakes, then not only is it undoubtedly a scratch build, but it is workmanship, and craftsmanship of a very high order.
