  • New cars to expect this year Although most manufacturers had a difficult 2021 in terms of manufacturing and shipping, the development of new models for 2022 seems to have continued unaffected. We’ll learn more of what’s in the 2022 catalogues over the next couple of months – and woodcote has the dates you should be keeping an eye on, starting with the Scalextric catalogue next Monday.
  • Avant Slot Ferrari 308 GTB The new model from Avant Slot is scheduled for release this month. Two road car versions are expected in Spain next week, with the 1982 Tour de France winning rally car arriving a fortnight later. You can read more over in the SlotRacer forum News section.

  • Bugatti T13 Velasor have released their exquisitely detailed Bugatti T13, winner of the 1921 Gran Premio d’Italia Vetturette, driven to victory by Ernest Friderich at the Circuito di Brescia.
  • Policar BRM P160 The first livery on the new Policar BRM was unveiled over the holiday period. Featuring Jo Siffert’s Austrian Grand Prix winning car, this model is one of the most exciting new releases scheduled for 2022. We looked at the BRM P153 and P160 in the News section last February.
  • SCX Hyundai i-20 WRC Available in Spain, the SCX model of Dani Sordo’s 2020 Rally Italia winning Hyundai i-20 is still much-anticipated by slot rally fans in the UK. This is the first up-to-date WRC car to be released in recent years, although a new hybrid i-20 is being prepared for the 2022 Monte Carlo Rally later this month.
  • Revoslot Porsche 911 GT2 Art Car twin pack This rather stunning new 1:32 scale release from Revoslot features two Porsche 911 GT2 liveries designed by German artist Peter Klasen. The Pop-Art style Porsches took François Lafon and Jean-Pierre Jarier to victory in the French GT Championship in 1998 (#2) and 1999 (#1). The twin pack and individual cars are available now from Pendle Slot Racing.
  • Latest from Slot.it and Policar Maurizio updates us with news from Reggio Emilia. He looks at two Policar Ferrari models – a new livery on the 330 P4, plus a preview of the Villeneuve 126 C2. And there’s an update on the SCP3 controller.

  • George Turner Models George Turner has posted a progress report on his new models, some work in progress, and a list of possible future cars. The Mclaren M8A is done and ready to go, the Lotus 19 is on its wheels and the artwork is done, a remastered lightweight E-Type is in progress, and this year’s Christmas project was a Morris J van. The Ford f100 truck is on its wheels, the Austin 1800 and Austin Healey 3000 are blocked out, and other future possibilities include a Riley MPH, a 1948 Triumph 1800 roadster, and a Frazer Nash Owlet.
  • Staffs Slot Cars UK Minilites The latest alloy hubs from Staffs are now available – and the Minilite-style wheels look superb on the Teamslot Renault 5 Maxiturbo. Probably the weakest link on the Teamslot model, the hubs needed an upgrade and these certainly do the job rather well.

  • Scalextric: The Ultimate Guide Volume 7 Adrian Norman takes us on a ride through the history – and huge variety – of Scalextric track and accessories in the latest volume of his masterwork. Volume 7 is available now from on-demand printer Lulu and you can find more details on the forum.


  • Fantastic Photos New Forum member Rainer is usually on the racetracks of Europe with his cameras – but also enjoys taking photos of his slot cars. Whether it’s race cars or slot cars his work is well worth a look.

  • SlotRacer Festive Awards If you missed Jason’s fabulous Slot Bots comic last week, it’s well worth a visit. The Comic features the 2021 SlotRacer Awards – including the best cars, tracks, forum content and two inductees to the esteemed SlotRacer Hall of Fame.

  • Dakar 2022 The Dakar Rally has begun – and runs through to 14 January. Held for the third time in Saudi Arabia, this pinnacle of the rally-raid season is always an incredible spectacle. You can follow the event on the official website, with daily updates on YouTube and Eurosport.
  • Festive Fun: Mini-Tempest Stages All around the world, local motor clubs organise post-Christmas events to blow away the cobwebs and have some festive fun. Sutton & Cheam Motor Club in the UK hosted the Mini Tempest Stages at the Rushmoor Arena in Aldershot last Tuesday.   • Jake Hill to WSR for 2022 BTCC BTCC front-runner Jake Hill will be driving a West Surrey Racing prepared BMW 330 in 2022. The link up between WSR, Mark Blundell’s MB Motorsport and sponsor ROKit will give Hill a genuine chance of his first BTCC championship. The season starts at Donington in April. Surely this’ll be a Scalextric car in 2023…
  • Your Favourite World Rally Car Dirtfish ran a readers’ poll before Christmas to discover which model was the fan favourite from 25 years of the World Rally Car era. With a huge 24.8% of the votes cast, the Škoda Octavia WRC beat the Subaru Impreza S5-S6 to top spot. Luke Barry pays homage to the lovable Octavia in a glorious tribute piece on the Dirtfish website. You can also check out the full 31-car result.
