  • Scalextric 2022 After last week’s hint about the new BTCC Civic FK8, a second 2022 Scalextric cars broke cover last Monday. Part of the design and development process for the exciting Lamborghini Countach LP500 was shown in episode 10 of the UKTV documentary ‘Hornby: A Model World’. You can watch the show on UKTV Play. The full 2022 Scalextric range will be unveiled on Monday 10 January. We’ll have coverage here at SlotRacer Online.
  • AFX Formula N Racemasters AFX have just announced a new single-seater for their range of HO slot cars. Looking very much like the current Formula-E Spark Gen2, the new car will take over from the 2008 Panoz DP01 as AFX’s ‘Formula’ body shape. Expected in January 2022, you can read more about the model in the SlotRacer News section.
  • New from Scalextric Available in time for Christmas are the two Formula-E cars and a fabulous little John Fitzpatrick Mini Cooper S. That’s probably it for new arrivals until late January / early Feb – but all the remaining 2021 catalogue cars will be produced.
  • New from SCX It’s been a mighty effort from SCX to get their 2021 cars to market. Here are another three to reach the UK and with a couple more not far behind. There’s also the 1:32 scale ‘Mud Track’ rally cross set just arrived – and you can get them all from Pendle Slot Racing.
  • Teamslot Escorts The latest news from Barcelona: these five Escorts will be available in the next 4 weeks. The Jamie Gough and Rothmans X-Pack cars are expected between Christmas and New Year – the Zakspeeds in January. You can see more in the News section.

  • Max Crowned F1 Champion After all last weekend’s shenanigans in Abu Dhabi, the 2021 Formula One champion was finally crowned at the FIA prize-giving ceremony in Paris. Max Verstappen received the trophy from outgoing FIA president Jean Todt. Congratulations Max!
  • Extreme-E Jurassic X-Prix No, the Extreme-E gang didn’t go back in time, they simply went down to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset for the final round of the inaugural electric off-road championship. You can watch all the action on the official website – or via BBC Sport or the iPlayer in the UK.
  • e-Trophée Andros: Andorre The French ice racing championship hopped over the border into Andorra at the weekend for more rally cross on ice. There was lots of great snow in the Pyrénées and plenty of fabulous sideways action! Highlights are on the official website.
  • F2 Champ Sits Out 2022 Max Piastri blew away the rest of the F2 field in his rookie season… but the Aussie youngster has not been offered an F1 seat for 2022. Instead, he has decided to concentrate on the reserve driver spot at Alpine, his academy colleague Guanyu Zhou moving to Alfa Romeo. Piastri remains one of the top prospects in motor sport.
  • Club Racing Hits The Spot Autosport ran a very interesting feature this week, confirming that club racing is on the up in the UK. The Covid-19 pandemic seems to have had a beneficial impact on grassroots motorsport. If you’ve always wanted to get involved in motor racing – on or off the track – now is the time. Most 2022 series regs and calendars are available now.
