Race Track Lab

Published by JasonB on Apr 26, 2026

Race Track Lab is a free browser based slot track designer.

Being web based, Race Track Lab requires no download or installation, and can be used on any device; desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. It supports Scalextric (SCX), Ninco, Carrera, Policar, and Scaleauto tracks, with Scalextric (UK), 1/43, and HO to come.

The system provides real-scale measurements, multi-lane layouts, inventory management and a community circuit library.

I’ve checked out Race Track Lab myself, and it seems well designed, intuitive, and simple to use.

Le Mans Miniatures Inaltéra GTP #1 & #2 Le Mans 1976

Ex-Matra drivers Henri Pescarolo and Jean-Pierre Beltoise shared the #1 Inaltéra, qualifying twelfth and - after early teething problems with an oil leak - drove a steady race to eighth overall and first in the GTP class. The #2 car - driven by Rondeau himself, alongside Jean-Pierre Jaussaud & Christine Beckers - qualified in seventeenth and also had early problems in the race. Lengthy pit stops - including two to change shock absorbers - dropped the second car back, eventually finishing in twenty-first place.

Scalextric Tyrrell P34 Swedish Grand Prix 1976 - Jody Scheckter and Patrick Depailler

The significance of the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix is it's the only Formula One World Championship race to have been won by a six-wheel car. The Tyrrell 'Project 34' was a truly revolutionary design and raced successfully in 1976 and 1977. Designed by Derek Gardner, the aim was to give the car better aerodynamic flow over the front wheels. The four ten-inch wheels gave a similar contact patch to a pair of standard wheels and tyres.

Rebuilt for Le Mans in 2008, the Aston Martin finished top GT1 car in the official test day at La Sarthe. In the race the fans were treated to a spectacular run to the chequered flag... the 009 Aston holding on to cross the line in thirteenth overall and first in class.

Belgian Grand Prix 1958

The 1958 Belgian Grand Prix might be said to have been something of a comedy of errors in some ways.

Of course, a race as fast and as challenging as the old Spa circuit allowed, could never be truly comedic for the drivers. But a combination of organisational and mechanical problems certainly threw some spanners into the works.

The 911 GT1s were the big news going into the event, featuring on the programme cover and much of the publicity. Although prototypes took the first three places on the grid, the Porsches were right on the pace and looking very strong for the race. It was a Porsche 1-2 in the early stages, Dalmas in the #26 leading Wolleck in the #25.

The Bentley Speed 8 was developed from the Bentley EXP Speed 8. It debuted in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2001 and won the race in 2003. It has a strong resemblance to and shares some technology with the Audi R8C, which had raced only once before Audi dropped the project to focus on the later dominant Audi R8.
