Help deciding scenery
#1

hi all,

Not sure if i put this the right place, but would like some input on making the scenery for my Scaley track.

Just got the platinum set cars now, but my preference is the old cars; GT40, Ferrari’s, Porsche’s and so on.

I can’t really decide on making the scenery as a racetrack or some roads in a rural setting.

What are your ideas - pic and video below.

For me it would definately be some rural setting  - either in the top left hand far corner of your track or the overpass on the complete left had side of track.....

Dont keep your scenery track pristinely clean wither. Have a look at Rallyhubs -left hand over - track in the track section, to see what I mean.

I also like the fact that your track is not over complicated. I am very much one for learning how to drivefast on a fast track - of course that means no magnets Rofl Tease

PS - meant to mention - it is easy to post pics and videos here

Hi Henrik,

Welcome here on the slotracer forum.
There are a lot of elevation differences at your track, which is a good basis for a rural scenery, I guess.
In combination with the classic cars you have mentioned, maybe one or two small classic Scalextic buildings, like the First Aid hut MM/A211 and Refreshmentkiosk MM/A228, or Entrance Building MM/A233 would already do the job. A Scalextric open grandstand K705 filled up with spectators would also be very nice.
I think, bigger buildings like the control centre and Grandstand C636, or long and high pit buildings are not recommendable for your track, because these can easily block the view.

Something like a Targa Florio style track might be good.

By which I mean a rural road that is used as a racetrack, but without the trappings of a major circuit. Perhaps some smaller buidings as rallyhub has suggested, maybe some advertising banners here and there, but no big grandstands, no control tower etc.

Could do some old Italian town setting on the left of the track - and just rocky scenes on the right/far end.

Looked at the some of the mdf buildings in one of the others post and really like the small grandstand, and a couple of the small buildings.

Very nice track there A62213. I would prefer the rural theme. Whatever you decide though, I'd love to see the finished product.

Henrik - that looks sensational!

I like a race circuit theme, but to keep it uncluttered.

There are quite a few classic circuits that could be your inspiration for scenery. The sweeping bends and elevation changes of your layout make me think of the trees and hills of Spa-Francorchamps, Nürburgring Nordschleife, Bridgehampton and Crystal Palace - although the more arid hilly terrain of the Targa Florio, Sonoma and Laguna Seca would work very nicely too.

There are lots of nice race track buildings out there, especially for the period you are looking at. I particularly like the Magnetic Racing laser-cut wood kits and GP Minatures laminated foamboard kits.

Look forward to following your progress!

Thanks Wood for the nice words!

Have decided on the rural theme - with some old buildings around and a couple of racethemed buildings. With the idea of normal roads, but they are closed for the weekend race kinda theme.

Just orders some of these sheets, and looking to order some building bricks in 1/35.

Kind regards Henrik
