I have seen these cars in some photos but i hear the motor is magnetic (?). Does it mean I cannot take out a magnet so is fixed in motor? I do not like magnets! Can i buy car with different motor? non-magnet.

The SRC 914s with the 'Upgrade' chassis have an inline M7 21k long can (see here). Like almost all long can motors (Slot.it, NSR, Avant Slot, Ninco, Team Slot etc), it does give more magnetic attraction than a short can - that's the nature of the beast. However, you'd need to get the motor low to the track rails and none of this makes any difference on wood track with copper tape. To compare a long can motor to a car with dedicated traction magnets is really wide of the mark...

The 'Upgrade' chassis set-up makes the SRC Porsche 914 a really enjoyable car to drive. It is a small car and never going to be the fastest out there, but the handling is superb and it is pretty nippy. I raced one at a 6 hour race on Ninco track and loved it (see report here). The extra weight of the long can is certainly a factor in that excellent handling - probably as important as the magnetic downforce.

So ther is a diffrent chassis with large motor with magnet in it. I wonder how to change to small motor if possible or how to know what chassis and motor I get if I buy. If I buy a 914 and has magetic motor in it can I change to non-magnetic motor? Sorry for my English, a friend used to edit me! He in anotherr flat maybe at work mostly. There is many that use no magnets.

What cars do you race?

If you race Scalextric, Fly and Carrera etc - the original SRC Porsche 914 has a sidewinder motor and might be more to your tastes? It is still an expensive car and not as well-designed as the new version.

If you race Slot.it, NSR etc, then the latest SRC Porsche 914 will seem familiar - handles well without traction magnets and has a good motor. The SRC M7 motor is very similar to other long-can motors... probably made in the same factory. If you want a lower power version, they are available from SRC.

If you want to try the SRC Porsche 914, I would suggest getting the latest version and see how you enjoy it before changing the motor. I don't think you will find it 'magnetic' in the way you fear. All slot car motors have magnets in them - they won't work otherwise!

You can reduce the magnetic effect by fixing some steel shim under the motor, it has to be magnetic shim or it won't work.

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers

All slot car motors have magnets, it is how the motors work, it is just some motors have a higher magnetism which can give an advantage on tracks with steel contacts.
I think you'll be OK with any of the SRC 914 variations.

They are referring to the magnetic effect of the motor, not the traction magnet.
I have one of these I built for a proxy with a 21.5K motor. I always felt that was too much motor for this small of car. When I got it back I replaced the 21.5K with an 18K H&R motor. Now the car is much more drivable and a blast to thrash around my home track.

The Chrono 914 chassis does not have any additional magnets, so no need to worry about removal. The motor provides plenty of downforce if needed as well as plenty of power. If you want to swap out the motor, the chassis will hold both a short can or long can so you can reduce or add magnetic downforce based on the motor you choose as a replacement.  Below is a tuning review on the SRC PORSCHE 914 Chrono model.

Mitch, that was a great proxy, and you’re right the car drives soo much better at 18k.  We may need to do this one as a strictly 914 proxy in the future with an 18k-20k motor limit.
