I am having a quick look at the cars today before dispatching them off to Wye Valley Club tomorrow

Car issues:
ALS Camaro - rear axle wondering again

Could not believe this, but it seems the rear axle has moved again over one side which went unnoticed during the last run. The Crown gear appeared tight on the axle, but the grub screw felt as if it was not holding firm, so I have replaced it. Hopefully this might stop further wondering but the tyre on that side has taken quite a lot of side wall off and the tyre is visibly narrower now than on the opposite side.

Also checked out Brumos Camaro which seemed uneasy on the recent tracks, I found that one of the independent front wheels was rubbing the wheel arch a little, so pressed it in a bit and it seems to rotate more freely now. Not sure if this should be locked into place with the grub screw or not ?

I have some more to check out, so maybe a few more comments later

I know it seems to be an ongoing problem car but it's good that you're spotting the issues and doing something about it  Thumbup

There was a slight body rub on the right side.  I did not get a chance to clearance the inner fender, I will fix it when it returns home.  Thank you for checking. With ALS car it appears the stopper may be on the wrong side given the movement in the picture.

The axle stopper is on that side to stop the crown gear pushing away from the pinion...but as Graham said the crown gear was loose and moved...a second axle stopper the other side of the crown would help.

I think basically the grub screw in the crown gear was worn, and although it seemed tight enough, it did feel like it was slipping when I tried to tighten it further. The new one I put in seems rock solid, I hope.
Another axle stopper on the other side would have helped keep the axle centrallised, but if the gear was slipping on the axle because of the worn out grub screw, then it would not have helped the cars performance.

I have one golden rule with grub screws...once you slip...you're in the bin!

Additional car issues:
BatManx Camaro rear wheel insert loose, not sure if they were glued in previously but tried to push back the one which fell out at the Wirral Club. But it is too loose now to stay in place.

Paul C Alfa Romeo GTV rear tyre loose again, will re-glue tomorrow.

ALS Thunderslot McLaren rear wheel/ gear very tight now, I will take a look inside tomorrow to try to find out why.

Car Issues
I have re-glued the rear tyre on Paul's Alfa Romeo GTV, so that should run better again now. Certainly at the Wirral Club it seemed a little off form.

ALS Thunderslot Mclaren, the gear mesh between the nylon Pinion and the Spur gear was very tight and was locking when I manually turned them. And when I removed the spur gear the pinion seemed a little loose to me on the armature.I think that perhaps because the gears mesh was so tight it has caused the pinion hole in the nylon gear to wear. Ideally the pinion gear needs replacing but I don't have a spare at the moment. Having adjusted the position of the pinion gear in regard to the spur gear the gear mesh is much better, and the parts are moving freely. But there is still a question in regard to whether the pinion will be slipping or not during the next round.
I will order a spare Thunderslot pinion to be fitted probably after this next round.
