Goodwood Revival Proxy - Official Results & Reports
#81

Wavegreen Good Morning

So we have the results from the Wirral Club Round 3

The Podium winner and runners up photo had to be corrected this morning, as I had inadvertently placed the Roadrunners Ferrari 250 as 1st place last Friday, wishful thinking perhaps  Talking

Kinrara Trophy

Another straight forward win for ModSports Corvette, with RoadRunners Ferrari 250 GTO 2nd and Brumos RSR Porsche 904 3rd.
BAracer's Ferrari 250GTO seemed to work better on this track, finding more grip than on the Policar tracks.
BatManx Porsche 904 struggled more on this track then previously, usually because of de-slotting on the corners.

And next is the Gerry Marshall Touring Cars

Well what can you say really.......umm!

Le Manx Jaguar romped through the heats.
Batmanx Camaro Z28 just loved the track and rarely come off.
Brumos Camaro which should have been at home on this track, was just difficult to keep on again.

Then we had two car failures
ALS - The Camaro lost any movement during the start of one of the heats and after checking was found to have lost a motor mount screw, the other side had also come loose. The screw was replaced for the next heat and everything was tightened up again. So should be OK now.

Bangers Racing Rover SD1 chassis became detached from the body at the front. On checking the3d  body mount support had sheared off. As this occurred just before our lunch break I was able to superglue it back and let it set before running the last 2 heats. I don't think this will be the end of this problem, so this week I will try to reinforce the body mount support with some epoxy resin around it. Basically the car is too heavy at the front and it has stressed the body support beyond its capability, probably due to earlier encounters with other cars or barriers etc.

Wow, Ed's Camaro is a big surprise for a basically stock Scalextric...he'll be elated with that result  Thumbup

And finally we have the Whitsun Trophy results.

Most of the cars ran reasonably well on this track, the drivers thought that the ALS Thunderslot Mclaren M6A was slower than they normally expect to see on their Can Am car nights (which feature at this club). And Bangers Racing Ford P68 did not seem to fair much better on this track.
So sadly those entrants will be disappointed with the results.

Thank you for fixing the failed body post, Graham. It was epoxy resin, glued to the body, and should also have had an extra support. It is also a relatively short body post, so should have been relatively robust.
I would disagree that the car is too heavy at the front, as the chassis ballast is required to control the heavy Scalextric body. Any less ballast and the Rover would have been progressing into the scenery on a more regular frequency.
Failure is more likely to have been caused by a high speed collision with an immovable object. Possibly, even the floor!
Anyway, it is what it is!!

Hi Chris,
it definitely has not been on the floor and there was not any particular heavy impacts, the track was too short for the cars to reach any high impact speeds.
