Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy

Wavegreen Good Morning,

So it is time to pack my bags and head for the airport, I will be back about 10 days before the Series starts.

Most of the cars have arrived, two entrants cars are still "work in progress" but I am assured will reach me before we start the series. If not then they may miss the 1st Round of the series starting on the 16th October.

On a serious note Austin from USA has not responded to any of my communication attempts, either by email, or by messaging on slotracer online or on the HRW Forum website, so this gives me some serious concern, not least because I have a car running in the International Proxy which he is administrating, but also  because he's is a paying entry in our Proxy, but nothing has materialised regarding his entries since he paid in July. So If you are online Austin I would appreciate some sign that you are most importantly fit and well, and secondarily if you are still participating in this Proxy.

I also received a couple of cars which look "troublesome" I have emailed the entrants concerned, and made a couple of suggestions for them. So they can let me know how they want to proceed before we get going in October.

And finally we may get a late entry from a Entrant from last years Road Race, which I have accepted if they can get their cars ready in time whilst I am away.

So no doubt I will be tempted to look in at the forum over the next couple of weeks, but all being well I will be also looking forward to making the final preparations for this Proxy Series on my return.

Wavegreen Well we are back from our holidays, but unfortunately brought back Covid also.
Luckily not effected me too bad, more like a bad head cold but my wife was more severely effected but looking better today.

And since last posting there has been some changes, Kevin's Rebuild of the Goldrock Track has started, which means he cannot run the 2nd Round of the Series as planned, but hopefully he may have his track room fully functioning again to run the last Round in December (so fingers crossed)
As a result of this and the fact that I have Covid currently, I am postponing the start of the series by one week until the 23rd October to allow sufficient recovery time, but the remaining schedule dates will remain as originally planned.

There are still some outstanding cars yet to arrive. Although I am no longer expecting the entry from Team Austin (as no contact has been made since July). Brumos RSR cars appear to be stuck somewhere between the US and the UK, and are currently "missing in action"
But we have "Team Groundhogs" who have sent in two cars as a new entrant.
There has been a couple of entrant car changes due to failures on testing.

So here is the updated Schedule and entry list

Hopefully after the weekend I will feel up to giving the track a dust off, fit the track lighting into place and we shall be ready to "Start those Engines"  Sun

And finally I am very pleased to announce that we will have our Sponsors back on board for this Proxy:

Hope you and your wife have a speedy recovery.  A week delay may not be a bad thing from the Viking SCC point of view as we ripping out our ageing Scalextric Sport track and replacing it with a brand new 6 lane Policar layout over the coming weeks.  If all goes to plan it should be fully installed and up and running before the proxy reaches us, but an additional weeks' grace is always good!

Hi Ade,
i think you misread the posting, the week delay only applies to me, as Kevin's Round has been pulled out of the programme. So all the remaining dates are (at least as I am aware of) as originally planned.

Very pleased that Brumos RSR cars have arrived!!!!!

Although originally tracked to Heathrow on the 24th August, after a phone call to Royal Mail yesterday, suddenly the parcel arrived this morning  Tappingfoot

So either the parcel was being personally "walked" up to Nottingham using the scenic route or that it has been lurking in our local RM depot

So perhaps  there is hope for Austin Teams cars after all.

Ah, no worries. Should still be ready in time  Thumbup

Wavegreen Good Morning

with the Covid now behind me, it is time to introduce the start of the Autumn Endurance & InterSeries Proxy (EIS)

The 1st Round at Harlequin will start next weekend, but in the meantime over the next few days I will introduce each of the Teams cars and I will give them a little run on my track to check that they are ready for action and to give some feedback.

After I have run all the teams cars I will publish the Scrutineers reports for each Class before I commence the timed runs.

Wavegreen Hi Folks,

we had an issue with one of the Class A cars, Team Tatters Porsche Spyder LMP had to be withdrawn due to the very old and brittle  Tappingfoot  guide wires breaking on the test run, luckily Team Tatters was able rework the Scalextric AMG from the Road Race and get it to me at "super speed"

We have now our Modern 24hours Endurance - Class A as below in order as listed on the time sheets
Note - that hosts are free, and even encouraged to run the cars out of the listed sequence, so that we don't run the cars in the exact same sequence during each Round.

I will go through the cars individually as I have found them running today.

Team Cube - Corvette C6R

So it is welcome back to this Corvette C6R which came 9th out of 12 runners in last years "Lights on Le Mans Proxy"
The car is still based on the SCX Body and Chassis, but the SCX motor has been replaced with a SRP 20K rpm S-Bell motor.
Full front and rear lights.

Test Run - car had good grip around my track (tyres were quite sticky), motor sounded very smooth, and the car was easy to run

Lifeboats Racing- Porsche 962

Another masterpiece from that "Famous Racing team - Lifeboats Racing" who you might remember did so well at Le Mans  Bigsmile

This model is based on an old Scalextric body, but with a JS Design in line Chassis and Scalex standard motor. Sadly no lights fitted to this car.

Test Run- car running quite bumpy, on closer examination the rear tyres are too loose, frequently wanting to depart from the wheel rim. So I will contact the Team and seek permission to superglue the tyres on. Then hopefully it will run smoother than today

Savage GT - BMW V12 LMP

Another Scalex body model, 3d  chassis with SW SRP 20k motor. This superbly built car looks the part, great care has been taken to prepare this one by the team. Full set of lights.

Test Run- fast, very fast. I will have to check out this one very carefully  Sun

Harrisons Racers - Mercedes CLK

Scalex body model, with Slot it Universal Chassis HRS with AW SRP 18k motor.
Front lights only.

Test Run - sluggish and poor rear grip initially, improved with running, but rear tyres look quite uneven and patchy.

will complete the list after a break

Scott Sports- Jaguar XJ220

Scalex body with JS Design chassis, in line SRP 20K motor. No lights

Test Run- Smooth and good runner, rear tyres not glued but they feel reasonably tight on the wheel rims.

Team Tatters - AMG Mercedes

Was supposed to have been a Porsche Spyder LMP, however on initial testing just before my holiday the Porsche failed even to get to run on my Rolling Road Test bed. 1st one side and then the other side of the wires into the guide shoe broke. So I could not see how the car would have lasted more than one Round if at all. I contacted the Team and they decided to withdraw the car and replace it with the AMG Mercedes from the American Road Race earlier in the year. This just arrived this morning.

The AMG Mercedes is a Scalex body and chassis with a change of motor to a NSR 20K. Brake lights only appear to be working. During the American Road Race it came 5th out of 8 runners in the class, guess they will be hoping for a better result this time.

Test Run - Another of the faster cars, which I guess was to be expected as it ran quite well earlier this year in the Road Race. Tyres quite tacky, so good grip on my Carrera track.

BARacer - Astra V12

A big welcome back to one of our 2021 Road Race entrants, an unusual choice of car for this Class in the Proxy.

Scalex body and chassis, Scaleauto 20k motor. Both front and rear lights

Test Run - Very smooth running car, quite nippy, a bit more nervous round some of the corners then some of the wider cars perhaps.

RoadRunners - Mercedes CLK

Scalex body from last years "Lights on Le Mans proxy" then it finished 3rd out of 12 runners, but now fitted with a WSR 3d chassis, SW NSR 20K motor. Lights front and rear.

Test Run- As you might imagine as this model was developed on my Carrera track it was one of the faster cars in this class today, however after running some of the others I don't think it necessarily will be the fastest.

Tomorrow we will give the Classic Le Mans (Class B) cars a run around the track
