Slot Rally Christmas Special - 23 December 2021
Plenty of food and goodies were brought, many thanks to those who brought food: pizza, jacket spuds, pork pies, sausage rolls, mince pies and brandy infused christmas cake. Christmas jumpers worn by all, prizes won for various achievements…oh and the Rally action was alright too.
Modified 2WD - (next year this will be Pro-Stock 2WD)
7 entries in this class, Brian particularly pleased with his Renault Megane being rallied for the first time and going noticeably better than his Peugeot 208.
Geoff also with two entries in this class, the Peugeot 208 never fails to impress whilst the VW Polo went well in the clockwise direction but a bit of a diva on the anticlockwise run (one too many pork pies maybe).
Gavin had problems with the Porsche on it’s first run due to the bodyshell being too far back and catching the tyres but fixed for the second run. His best runs were with the SCX Citroen C4.
Mike and Kev both with Porsche 997 GT3's were away clear of the other cars in this class, Mike's went best on the first run whilst Kev's was better on the second run .
Open 2WD
4 entries in this class which usually turns out to have the quickest round the Rally stage, Kev’s Scooby again setting the pace this time being chased by Andy’s Ferrari F40 being rallied for the first time…the navigator being particularly reluctant to get in the car but caused much laughter in doing so.
Of the other entries in this class Geoff's Toyota Supra was the closest competitor to Brian's Peugeot 206
The other classes with more than one entry were:
Open Small Classic - Andy’s XK120 Jag vs Kev’s Porsche 904 GTS were only separated by 1 second after 24 laps of the Rally stage was the closest class all night.
Standard SCX Classic - Headlight blazing…Brian’s Abarth 131 vs Kev’s RS1800 Escort
Modified 4WD (Pro-Stock 4WD next year) - both cars were Mike B’s, the Scooby initially holding the lead of these until the second run where deslots cost dearly enabling the Evo X to win the class.
Of the solo runs, Geoff's Jag XK120 in Ninco Classic (unusual to see only one), Gavin's Lancia 037 in Ninco 80s...and who could possibly miss the Santa Mustang, driven well by Andy in Open Classic class.
7 Standard class cars, 9 Modified class cars and 8 Open class cars.
