Lotus 30 Blues
#1

I once built a green Lotus 30 where I made several big mistakes. So another body was purchased to see if things could be improved the second time around.

Here's a quick reminder of what went wrong on the first Lotus. A big hole was cut into the interior to try and install an inline S-can motor. I had to switch to a slim-line motor to save that car as an inline drive.

The first step to making the correction was to install an NSR side-winder pod. There's a little more room in the engine bay. It was a bit more challenging than making an inline. But well worth the extra effort in the end.

This time the car has a full interior including a fire extinguisher, and a full driver right down to his shoes. It came with a tonneau cover for the passenger side. It was thankfully not needed for this build.

Thank you very kindly for looking.

TD, Jeremy, and Jason. I humbly thank you all for your comments.

Jeremy. It's not really a fair question since the SW is a 20k NSR Shark vs a 14k slow slim-line, inline. The SW is a lot faster in the straights. The inline corners just a tad better with a lower CG. However, the blue Lotus easily beats the green one in a race by sheer acceleration.

I know the Lotus 30/40 has a very low body line which makes it difficult to get a motor and chassis under it for slot racing. I thought you may be interested to see one of my 1/64 Lotus 40 versions. It has a Lifelike M chassis as this was the lowest chassis that would fit. It is still not as low as I would like.

Mazda: I remember you posting that striking example in the waaaay back! One of your casts? I forget.

Ken: Thats quite a pair to draw to. Superlatives fail me. Stance, finish, personality, they both really tic all the boxes. Equally as fun is the tell, of how you wind your way to stunning cars.
