Touring Cars Slotting Proxy
#61

If numbers are similar to the Rally proxy, what's the plan for event and class awards?

Exactly the same, assuming our sponsors stay with us of course.

I have made a subtle change in the rules regarding cars with metal chassis.

Class A constructed cars  - will include Brass & Wire, Nickel chrome (PP) or metal chassis which are based on Resin moulded bodies.
Class B constructed cars - Do not include Brass & Wire, Nickel chrome (PP) or metal chassis.
Class C constructed cars - will include Brass & Wire, Nickel chrome (PP) or metal chassis which are based on Plastic moulded bodies.

So in terms of Events
Event 1- Permits Class A,B and now C constructed cars
Event 2 - Permits Class A,B & C constructed cars
Event 3 - Permits Class A,B & C constructed cars
Event 4 - Permits only Class A & Class B constructed cars

The rules have been updated on the leading page on slotracer online.

As an example a Hillman Imp on a brass chassis will be a Class C event 3 car if it’s a production body?  If it’s a resin body, it’s a Class A on a Brass Chassis.  If it’s a production body on a plastic chassis it’s Class B?

The event I get, it’s the class I’m attempting to figure out. If I run the car,  I have an 18k motor, which puts it in a different class as well as a 20k motor as well as different chassis and several bodies.  Also is George Turner considered “resin” or is it production as the kit contains a chassis and you can order running gear?

My other car may well be a Ford Falcon (as I have one part painted sitting on a 3D chassis), so that would be in Event 1, Class B/O

George Turner are resin, I'd say 'production' was rtr car based.

So your Imp would be Event 1,A/U with a metal chassis and 18k motor limit and 1,B/U with a non metal chassis and 23k motor limit (Imp was under 2L)

...I think

Hi, I see your dilemma, the main reason for the change is that I feel that plastic body with metal chassis represents a significant performance improvement. So in my mind that should be placed the same as a ProCar (Class C). Generally Resin model bodies are heavier (like George Turner) and don’t have a similar performance advantage.
So the question is if your run an Imp with resin body, which motor are you allowed ? I will have a think on that

The answer is simple, I will add it in to the rules.
If the model is a resin based body ( George Turner) with a metal chassis etc and fitted with a Class A motor it is a Class A car. If the same model is fitted with a class B motor it is a Class B car
If it is a plastic body model with metal chassis it is a Class C car  Sun

Class C constructed cars - will include Brass & Wire, Nickel chrome (PP) or metal chassis which are based on Plastic moulded bodies.

So in terms of Events

Event 2 - Permits Class A,B & C constructed cars
Event 3 - Permits Class A,B & C constructed cars
Event 4 - Permits only Class A & Class B constructed cars

So sorry for the confusion, the change was to allow some of the slower resin built models to enter Class A, but also to classify Plastic moulded bodies fitted with metal chassis in the higher performance category Class C
