Todays update

We are almost there, I will give the 2nd lot of entries received in the last week a test run over the weekend.

So over the weekend managed to give the 2nd batch of cars a test run.

Savage GT - Opel Calibre this was too fast, actually faster than my test car (fitted with magnets) so I will be checking this one carefully.
Deadheads - Audi A5 was also a very fast car and smooth, should be fun.
Ruscillo Racing - Opel Calibre, nothing between this one and the Audi A5
Savage GT - Ford Mustang, perfectly balanced car for Event 1
RoadRunners - Ford Galaxie, I think it will struggle to keep up with the Mustang, but hopefully the width will help.
ManxBrian - Nissan Skyline, the livery reminds me of one of those real disguise ones the real car companies use to hide the shape of their new cars. I had to look hard at this one to see it was a Skyline.. But quite quick.
Deadheads - Rover SD1, very close the two above.
Red Devils - Alfa GTA, very stable and runs well for Event 2
Manx Geoff - Opel Calibre, deep guide rubbing along the bottom of the slot, so not really a representative run.
Manx Ed - Opel Calibre, a quick car.
Red Dragons- Renault Laguna, something rubbing on the track surface, possibly front of chassis?
BARacer - Alfa 155, nothing between this one the two above it.
Scott Sports - BMW 125i, nice running car well put together
Ruscillo Racing - BMW M3. rear tyres too wide so I will need to speak to them about this.
Team Alaric- Ford Sierra, fairly stable
BARacer- Ford Capri, abit of a handful around the corners.
Groundhogs - Ford Cortina, reasonably stable.
Scott Sports - Ford Sierra, feels a little too heavy for the power of the motor. Front  weight was loose on arrival., but has been secured now.
Groundhogs - Ford Capri, same feeling as for the other Capri, abit of a struggle keeping it in the slot on the corners.

I started to scrutineer the cars, we have one with an issue with the minimum body construction standard, one with rear tyres too wide and one with Front wheel/tyres too small,  also a couple of cars once again arrived with guides which were deeper than the recommended 7mm. So I will be contacting those entrants to try to get the issues resolved either before or during the series.

The Skyline and Deadheads Rover are both hydrofilm dipped, I did the second one slightly differently by putting sellotape round the sheet edges to stop it spreading once the solvent backing had dissolved and have a sharper finished result.

Nooo .. Deja vu !
You should be able to tell from looking at the underside, I didn't leave the magnet in the pod did I ?
I don't even bother putting them in if I bought the pod separate, but if I robbed it from a stock car there is the possibility I overlooked it.
Other than that, the motor is from the list, I think my ground clearance was safe, so IDK  Sweating

Running a screwdriver along the chassis will soon find it if there is a magnet.

I have checked and the car is technically legal, the magnetic downforce as fitted in the car is 2gm, so I would not have expected that motor to be excessively high magnetic effect (even though it does say so on the website)

However practically speaking, do I think it represents an unfair advantage over the similar cars on a plastic track..... well possibly yes.
Obviously until you run some of these cars with such motors in situ it is difficult is see what the overall effect is, I previously said that over 5gms of downforce was practically advantageous, but now I will need to review that for the next proxy.....

So I am ok with the car, it is not your fault and your not the only one using this motor.

You said previously that your magnet checker is 8mm away from the motor, is that what you're still using?

It depends how far off the track you're measuring magnetic downforce, 2g at ride height distance is very little but 2g at 8mm distance isn't the magnetic effect the motor is going to have on the track.

Our clubs mag checker and my own device measure the magnetic effect at track level, with these cars that's 1.5mm airgap.
