Although I did the boolean work in Netfabb when I got home because:
a. It's simple
b. It's done 'in the cloud'
c. It's simple
d. Did I say it's simple
...I did eventually find a youtube tutorial how to use boolean in Blender and it did work after rebooting the software after I'd added a couple of addons
But it's not turned out too bad for a first effort - I must admit I like the Mk1 Escort style bubble arches, they'll get used on other cars

Although I've modified the stl I don't think I have the rights to sell it...however I can print one together with a chassis I'm in the middle of designing and offer it as a kit
Copyright of any car surely belongs to the manufacturer, claiming copyright ownership in any form is obviously a grey area.

Blender is my "axe" of choice... I've been working in it producing slot car bodies and custom figures for around 10 years. Steep initial learning curve, but incredibly powerful software for the price - FREE.
The hardest part of the modeling process, and worse - repairing other people's STL files, is thickening the mesh to make it printable. The solidify and displace modifiers are very useful as a starting point. But often you will find yourself running into the problem of self-intersecting geometry which can cause printing problems if not cleaned up after applying the modifier(s).
Here's a painted model a friend from SlotLodge made from a resin print of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang I modeled from scratch in Blender. She's 1/64 scale:
