Slotting Car Proxy Club

(16th-Sep-23, 08:52 PM)OXO cube Wrote:  tbh im not overly enthused with these  event type proxies
if you pick the correct class , even with a bad car you can aquire a lot of points
probably thats because i always seam to pick the wrong class
would much rather a one class one event proxy
but thats just me
this does not take away from  the full commitment from the hosts and organiser which are invaluable

I would disagree, I don’t think we ever had a bad car win an Event or Class win. They have always been the best set up cars.

The style of these proxies are my own, I have no desire to copy other peoples but equally willingly take part in them from time to time as I am currently.

Hi Graham
Sorry I missed you last week I hope the op went well.

Option 1& 2 for me first choice would be 2 but will go with the flow all have lots of possibilities ??

One class one event proxy would only have one winner.

This is only my 2nd multi event/class proxy and I like the fact you can have multiple winners in the same proxy.

I would agree that picking the right car can be advantageous in the class results especially if there's a noticeable size and tyre difference between classes, for example in the upcoming GT Sports Proxy:
  • Classic Sports Cars - 10mm wide tyres, max width 64mm
  • Inter Series - 14mm wide tyres, max width 68mm
A Classic Sports Car in the same class as an Inter Series car could be at a noticeable disadvantage, wide cars with wide tyres always outperform narrower cars on narrower tyres so the only way to equalise the classes is have the same width & tyre rules then you lose the scale aspect but these proxies like to be sensibly realistic when it comes to scale.

Whatever rules are applied, I will accept, but for me this seems overly generous for 1/32.
Personally, 64mm max for Inter series and no more than 62mm for Classic (up to 1985) is closer to prototypical. Still a little overscale but closer aligned to most 1/32 slot cars.

Yes, I have checked and actually the figures I used for widths should be body widths and not rear tyre widths according to CSCRA rules. So I will change that.

And accepting positive criticism I will change the maximum rear tyre width to 10mm for all Events.

HELP!

Can someone advise me how to remove adhesive which has stuck to the surface of a painted body from the Masking tape I used ?

If its just stuck in the surface then lighter fluid will shift it.

Carrier Insurance
due to the recent Manx Courier Fiasco I thought I should clarify the situation in regard "slot cars insurance during the Proxy"

Basically as we run it now there is no provision for Insurance for individual cars, and very little for the box. DHL give you £25 per parcel and DPD give you £50 insurance cover. The actual box packaging and box is worth £65 without the cars.

To actually Insure the 42 cars at a value of £30 each would additionally cost me £72 pounds per shipment or £720 for 10 Rounds.

So each of the 26 Entrants would need to pay another £27.70 PER CAR on top of the £10/£15 (depending on 1 or 2 cars)

Basically I am not going down that road.
So if Entrants want insurance to cover damage or loss of their cars during an event, then they must provide for their own Insurance.

Previously I have included a Disclaimer of responsibility on earlier Proxy Events which I have run.
So recent events have been a unwelcome reminder that I should ensure that this statement is repeated on the current "Touring Cars and GT Sports Cars Proxy Events"

DISCLAIMER
The administrator and associated hosts do not accept any responsibility for the damage or loss of the cars during the running of the Rounds or during transportation. You enter your cars at your own personal risk, and there is no insurance cover included in the entry fee to cover such damage or losses as a result of  the above.

Graham,
I think most Home Insurance would cover items away from home
However, any policy excess would probably exceed the cars value?
Probably cost more to insure than their actual worth?

This was eventually going to happen and could potentially happen again in the future so we must try to remove the idiot from the equation i.e. covering the delivery address with a new (wrong) label.

I sent two similar sized boxes to a customer in the USA, both full of 3D printed bodyshells, the customer paid me several hundred pounds so I had to make it difficult to go to the wrong address.
A carriers label is always much smaller than A4 so I printed an A4 sized label with the customers name, address, phone number and email in a large font in bold, stuck one on top and one on the side of the box, both completely covered in sellotape.
...it got there no problem, we should do the same or invite a repeat.
