Manx Slot Car Club - Slot Rally 2026 race reports & results
#7

Slot Rally - 30th July 2026 - …followed by SRF F1 Sidecar racing
.
Slot Rally

.
A great turnout tonight as there were eight club members so we had two groups of four drivers and 32 Rally cars spread over many classes.
.
The two groups of drivers were:

  • Ed, Geoff, Mike, Brian H
  • Brian L, Paul, Kev, Chris
There was a good spread of class types:
  • Eight Standard Class cars
  • Six Modified Class cars
  • Thirteen Prostock Class cars
  • Five Open Class cars
.
Geoff turned up having left his preferred Rally cars at home but still managed to put a team together with the big Scaley Aston Martin breaking cover (not to mention the bridge on Little Druidale)...
His best performer by a large margin was the Scaleauto Peugeot 208 in Prostock 2WD Class.
.
Brian H is always good for an unusual car, his Scaley Mini Countryman in Standard 2WD Class was a nice smooth runner from what I saw and it turned out to be his best car tonight, finishing a little over three seconds ahead of his Powerslot VW Polo in the same class.
.
Ed decided to race his Mini tonight, a nice runner it is too and it’s always good to see one on the Rally stages.  It was a few seconds ahead of his proxy Jag XK120 overall.
His best car tonight by a large margin was his Racer Porsche 935 in Prostock Classic Class.
.
Brian L likes his MSC Metro 6R4, very smooth everywhere and seemed to relish Little Druidale stage.
His best car tonight was between his two Peugeots, the 206 WRC in Open Class slightly outperforming his 208 T16 Prostock 4WD Class car.
.
Paul has long favoured both of his little Ninco Porsche 356’s, he’s rallied them for years.
His best car tonight was his Scaley/SlotIt Honda Civic in Prostock 2WD but it was close as his Modified 80’s Class Scaley Metro 6R4 was only one second behind.
.
Chris also has his favourites, the Avant Manta especially is always good to watch in action, they’re a fairly big car so plenty of tail-out action in sharp bends.
His best car tonight was his Revo Toyota Supra, it seems to go better every time he runs it, very smooth and quiet (which is unlike most Revos).
.
Mike raced a Standard 2WD Class Ninco Renault Clio, they were really popular a few years ago but one of my favourites is Mike’s BBR Ferrari 430 which seems to glide round the road.
His best car tonight was of course his NSR Porsche 997 GT3, again a car that’s seen years of action on our Rally stages, was tonight upstaged by Geoff’s Peugeot 208 in Prostock 2WD but only less than three seconds overall.
.
Kev had a new car in action tonight, a SRC Porsche 914GT in Prostock Classic Class and it went very well and managed to split his two BMW’s overall.
His best car tonight was his Open Class Subaru Impreza WRC, it doesn’t see much Rally action as Kev says it feels like cheating when he uses it.
.
Classes In order of most popular:
.
  • Prostock 2WD was back to being the most popular tonight with six entries from Geoff, Mike & Paul.
  • Standard 2WD was nearly as popular with five entries from Mike, Geoff & Brian H.
  • Modified 80’s - three entries from Brian L, Chris & Paul.
  • Prostock 80’s - three entries from Kev & Chris
  • Open 2WD - three entries from Kev, Chris & Brian L
  • Standard 80’s - two entries from Brian L & Brian H
  • Prostock Classic - two entries from Kev & Ed
  • Prostock 4WD - two entries from Brian L & Mike
  • …plus six sole class entries from Paul, Ed & Kev

SRF F1 Sidecars

.
Two more Sidecars were seen circulating Ballayorkley tonight…
George got to do a few laps with his red outfit, it was nice and smooth… until the passenger wheel fell off and the axle spacers fell in the slot.  He was quite happy to sit down at the bench and get working on it.  He said ‘it’s got a squeak’ to which we replied ‘it’s going to be quick then!’
Kev had his ‘plastic track spec’ outfit circulating for the first time in grey primer.  It’s a different driving experience as it’s a much shorter ‘wheelbase’, the guide is much further back and over to the passenger side making it a bit more lively, a bit like driving a Mini which is short and wide… but it’s still fairly quick.
.
Then it was time to get the Sidecars out...
SRF F1 Sidecars raced this week by (in heat order):
  • Kev
  • Geoff
  • Chris
  • Paul
  • Brian
Geoff got off to a flying start in Yellow lane, comfortably winning Heat #1 by the majority of a lap ahead of Kev & Chris.  He also comfortably won his next race in Red lane ahead of Chris & Paul.
.
That first heat turned out to be Chris’s best score of his three races whilst in Blue lane but did improve his race position with a couple of 2nd places in Red & Yellow lanes.
.
Kev made up for his first race result with two 23 lappers in Blue & Yellow lanes whilst racing Brian & Paul, then Brian & Geoff.
.
Paul, racing a ‘plastic spec’ chassis had his best result in his first race whilst in Red lane, up against Brian & Kev.
.
Brian had the three most consistent race results of all, three 20 lappers, the best of these in Blue lane in the last race of the night against Chris & Paul.
.
Ed kindly stayed to help marshal the racing and has assured us his Sidecar will be seen soon…

.
Again another busy evening with lots of organising but we managed it without finishing too late.
.

Next week at the Manx Scalextric & Slot Car Club…
  • Italian Cars Night - Grande Corse - you can race two different cars in this one.
  • SRF F1 Sidecars

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers
