Slot Rally - 12th March 2026 -

It seems ages since we last had a Rally night, yes we’ve had a Targa Florio which uses the Rally stages but it’s not the same.
.
The room was packed last night, eleven of us.  Sadly Paul didn’t stay which meant ten of us and 39 cars.
.
It was Jack’s first time on the Rally stages, I thought he did very well for his first time as Rally is a completely different thing to circuit racing… he said he enjoyed it which is great to hear.
. Some of us got used to the new Little Druidale layout faster than others but it’s really enjoyable once you remember where the straights start and where the road suddenly veers off…  Bigsmile

A good turnout of eight club members plus three visitors during the evening.

We split into two groups of four, both groups selected at random: .
After the weeks earlier discovery concerning the Oldsmobile Toronado being eligible for Slot Rally as it had raced in the 1968 Baja 1000, Mike proceeded to knock chunks out of the scenery going under the bridge on Little Druidale as predicted, the Toronado looks good but definitely not suited to tight twisty Rally stages which won’t be doing the bodywork any favours.
The Clan Crusader made a welcome return tonight, I didn’t get to see it in action, it was up against Andy’s Mercedes 300SLR in Open Small Classic.

Team Rothmans aka Chris, had a nice display of cars, the Ninco Porsche 934 was back, performing as well as ever.  One of tonight's debut entries, an Avant Mitsubishi Galant in Modern 4WD, looking at the stage times (as I didn’t see it in action) seems to have struggled on Little Druidale stage.  The best performer though was his Avant Opel Manta 400 in Prostock 80’s class, one of Chris’s long time best cars.

Andy has been developing an Avant Toyota Yaris WRC and is rapid on the big circuit, looking at the stage times it’s definitely suited to the constantly winding Carpark Chaos layout.
His best performer though was a GT40 built for a proxy much later in the year and probably surprised himself by how well it went tonight.

Gav decided three cars was enough tonight and probably explains why his group finished much sooner than the other group.
His BBR Ferrari 430 was comfortably his best runner, it always goes well, as does Mike’s when he uses his. I did catch his other Ferrari, an Avant 308 GTB going what looked very nicely on one of its runs, again always a great performer for him.

Jamie regularly turns up with something newly acquired, his SlotIt Mercedes 190 tonight went particularly well on Mike’s Carpark Chaos stage and was one of three cars in Prostock 2WD to finish with 215 seconds overall with the Merc just ahead for a class win.  That was one of three class wins as his Triumph TR7 and Metro 6R4 topped their classes too.

Paul had to borrow some cars tonight, a SCX Seat Cordoba off Kev and a Metro 6R4 and NSR Clio off Brian.  The Standard 4WD Cordoba isn’t very quick with its stock motor but a very reliable car to drive.
His best result was with his SlotIt Ford GT40, very smooth and set up with an inline motor.

Brian who admits he ‘didn’t turn up’ for the last Slot Rally a few weeks ago, definitely turned up tonight, in particular looking forward to competing with Geoff’s Scaleauto Peugeot 208 and was disappointed that Geoff couldn’t get down tonight.  The Peugeot was very squeaky but went well.
The Renault Megane also went well and along with his NSR Porsche 997 they performed quite closely.

Kev debuted a Fly BMW M3 E30, one of four cars in Prostock 80’s and performed better than expected finishing ahead of the chasing three cars.
He also chose one of his recently returned (from an aborted proxy) Ninco Jag XK120’s in Prostock Small Classic, the bottom of the chassis was just skimming the brow of the bridge on Little Druidale making an annoying scraping noise but managed a good time.

There's two results sheets, one separates the cars into their own classes, the second one is purely a 'comparison chart'.  The class results are the actual results.
