Slot Rally - 25th June 2026 -
…followed by SRF F1 Sidecar racing
.
We were going to try something new tonight, a full Slot Rally event on all three stages, then a weekly round robin of Sidecar racing on BallaYorkley if we were organised enough.
.
Six club members, two groups of three drivers and 24 Rally cars spread over many classes.
.
The two groups of drivers were:
It was good to see some of Dave’s Rally cars again, especially the Lancia HF. His OSC Peugeot 205 is a good competitive choice for Modified Class.
.
No less than three Metro 6R4’s tonight. Brian’s we see regularly but Jamie’s same make MSC 6R4 actually bettered his times on two stages. Paul was driving a Scalextric version with slight upgrades.
.
Kev brought a Standard Class Ninco Peugeot 307 out of retirement and was happy with it.
.
Andy’s closest class competitor was Brian’s Renault Megane in Open 2WD that was only a couple of seconds behind Andy’s Ferrari F40 on Little Druidale.
.
CAR COMPARISON CHART:
Some Rally action on Little Druidale is covered in one video.
.
Then it was time to get the Sidecars out and whilst the GoPro was out it was set up overlooking the far end of the track to get two points of view.
…there’s video of the Sidecar races on BallaYorkley with two camera views for the first two races.
.
SRF F1 Sidecars raced this week by (in heat order):
A big improvement of three laps this week for Jamie, his outfit drives very smoothly.
A headscratcher for Brian, seven laps short of last week's result, his Sidecar looked very unpredictable.
Paul got to race his outfit for the second time, a great run in Yellow lane but struggled in Red and Blue lanes.
Dave was racing a new outfit and running it in tonight and thinks the motor is a little down on performance but did manage three very consistent scores..
Andy & Kev were both quick again, a 23 lapper seems to be the limit. There’s not much between these two Sidecars other than a bit of luck either way.
.
I noticed that Jamie is using Scaleauto nylon spur gears, available in 33/4/5/6/7mm at 18.5mm diameter and should be more than up to the job as they are also used on some of the club cars that have seen years of racing. This could be why his Sidecar is so quiet when running.
.
Although it was busy getting everything organised, we managed it without finishing too late.
