The most common gear ratios used in cars are:
  1. 1st gear: 3.5-4.5
  2. 2nd gear: 2.0-2.5
  3. 3rd gear: 1.5-1.8
  4. 4th gear: 1.0-1.3
  5. 5th gear: 0.8-1.0
3.5:1 is a higher ratio than 0.8:1
