Hi all,I've been working on my scale auto rs200home series for a while now to build a 4WD version. I know lots of people prefer rear wheel drive but I'm determined to to build it anyway. I have a home rally track still in progress! I have now got an R series chassis & have near completed my RS200 angle winder shaft drive 4x4. build so will post photos etc soon. Has anybody heard of or seen an angle winder shaft driven 4WD before? Many thanks.

Thinking outside of the box.

Personally, I like shaft-driven 4x4.
There may, or may not, be reason(s) why not to do it - but at the end of the day it's your car, your time, your money. Could be an interesting experiment. But what
will be interesting is how it's going to pan-out.
Keep us posted.
Best regards,
Stuart.

Thank for replies lads,it is my car & so that's why I tried the home series chassis for so long but have to admit the R series has best potential. I have to order some parts to finish it,(it's very over engineered but is the best quality). I have used bearings calibrated axles etc so can't wait to finish it. I'll test it on my track & compare times to RWD then post results, thanks for you're interest & comments.

The SCX STS 1/43 offroad system used a shaft drive angled motor 4wd chassis. And isn't the new Scaley Land Rover set up that way?

The STS cars certainly had an angled shaft drive mechanism.
We have a
diagram and a
photo of the angled worm drive system over in the STS section, written by Peter Zivanovic.

Hi all just to keep my progress. Ive made mistake & so have ordered parts needed to finish build. I am not so experienced & i got inpatient so tried to use some parts i already had ,but it was a mistake! So now i have got parts needed & are Slotit items too. The cost is more but quality will be high. i will post photos of each stage in progress & of completed project. As im not experienced racer i will try it on my home track but also ill take it too Avon slotcar club & ask members to test it & give me feedback on it. Be in touch soon.
