A wandering into motor rewinding

Lots of articles about rewinding, especially if you read the old magazines.
They run hot because it pulls more amps with the larger gauge wire.  Also, since people aren't as reproducible as machines, balancing the arm after winding will help. Consider the air gap to the magnets, shimming them with tape or shim stock can help also.

This is why people melted commutators and endbells back in the old days.  ?
