Souped-up Scalextric Chassis

Using adjustable front axle blocks will certainly help,.......use your new jig to align !!

As you mentioned, decent rear bushings, and a brace for the rear uprights will also help considerably.

Remove the molded in front axle retainers on your Scaley chassis and either glue, or screw in the new ones.
