I think I follow how it goes together, and that the body is attached by the side pieces rather than the original body post sockets.
But...
I don't think there are enough nuts and bolts in the pack to fit the side rails. Normal?
Why are there 2 thin nuts and 2 thick nuts in the pack? The thick ones seem too thick to fully engage with the nuts.
And what are those two members for that stick out from each side of the chassis adjacent to the motor pod? I need to cut them off as they interfere with the fit of the body.

Reading the Slot.it 'Chassis to body assembly' notes, I do not seem to have the L shaped pieces that are supposed to be glued to the body. Yet looking at pictures of the HRS2 CH35 product pictures, I seem to have all the parts.
Any guidance on how to attach body to chassis with the parts in the picture above would be gratefully received!

The HRS chassis is designed to have the posts on the chassis snap into the little pockets that get glued into the side of the body (or vice versa, depends on version) Basically, it's sort of like pin tubes for Lexan bodies but without penetration of the body.
However, you can cut those off and use normal body posts if desired. If really depends on the width of the body you are using.

You can just use the chassis kit without the SICH57b, but the additional accessory is a more elaborate body to chassis joining part which gives you greater degree of adjustment than with the basic chassis kit parts.

The two cars that used this chassis in the recent Rally proxy used the front and rear body mounts not the side mounts and they were two of the best handling cars of the lot

I did look at that option, but I couldn't work out which parts of the kit to use.
Maybe I just need to make up the necessary brackets from bits from my box of 'stuff'.

I never use a centrally positioned body mount unless.....
The car is a GP or Formula body
The body is stabilised elsewhere on the chassis
The reason and rationale
Body flop is easy to acheive, however body float is not.

Yes, if the sills are supported by the chassis that greatly helps as it's advisable to make use of moving mass like the bodyshell.
