While the axle uprights on this "hard" pod are certainly more stiff than on the stock pod (and definitely stiffer than any Slot-it pod), there is still some movement, so reducing this movement, is never a waste of time. While reducing/eliminating any movement between the pinion (motor shaft) and the two axle bushings is extremely beneficial (no axle binding, improved gear mesh, reduced/no chatter), it is certainly more critical on higher grip tracks, grippier tires, stronger motors etc.
