Speaking from first hand experience with having a fully modular table and track system it is the best way to go, it allows for infinite and easier expandability later on without having to destroy a substantial part of the track or table to do modifications.

I have the Mrtrax (mrtrax.com) track system, it is fully modular in design and is an awesome bit of kit.
