Melbourne 1970s Digital
#1

As mentioned in my introduction, I have have grown up with Scalextric since my young days in Coventry in the 70s and 80s. Having accumulated bits and pieces for years I finally had the space to build a permanent track for errr, my two boys.

This is the current iteration. I went through a few attempts and different layouts/scenery before I settled on this version.

Inspiration was the amazing catalogues that Scalextric used to knock out. Images like this one:

The overall shot:

Gethin in for a refill.

60s GTs under the bridge

Carlos can’t stand salesmen.

Minis at the hairpin

Gp B on the Monte

James taking a break.

I used to see these around when I was young - I grew up near the competitions dept at Stoke Plant. Peugeot Talbot was also my first employer.

Jody wants to know who’s in his car

Old school through the Esses

Cheers, Paul.
