The cars have been checked over and run for a couple of hot laps to check for any potential running issues ahead or the round at Viking SCC which will be happening this Wednesday evening.
I've got to say that the general standard of the builds across the board seems very high, I can foresee this being very close.

There were two small issues noted:
The interior glass to Bangers' BMW Z4 has dropped a bit; however, this does not seem to be affecting performance and is purely an aesthetic issue.
The rear of Equipe Trelawny's Panoz is contacting the track which is undoubtedly hindering its performance.

On a separate note, Scott Sports Jaguar XJ9 is in the results table as being a GT1, this should be in the GP3 group should it not?

Hi Ade, hope all goes well, yes the Scott Sports Jaguar XJ9 should be a GP3 class car and not a GT1, I have amended the record sheet and asked Jason to correct it on the Scoreboard. I am not sure now what is written on the actual car supports Plaque in the transport box? perhaps you can correct this if its also incorrect.

Yesterday evening we ran Round 2 at Viking SCC.  The original plan was to run four cars simultaneously; however, a couple of club members were unable to make it along to the evening so it was decided to drop a lane.  This meant we could run three lanes, with a lane space between each car to avoid any tussles.  We opted for white, yellow and green (lanes 1, 3 & 5) as this would be a good test of the cars, with the contrast of the more flowing corners of yellow and the tighter hairpins of white (the latter requiring good brakes and punchy acceleration to maintain a fast consistent pace).

3 drivers were each allocated a lane which they would stay in for the duration of the night, with the cars rotating through the lanes in groups of three.  The track was run at 12v and all drivers used Truspeed BP2 controllers.  Due to the number of cars to get through, we opted against running them in their separate chassis classes and instead ran all cars as a large complete group (with a reverse running order slowest to fastest, dictated by Monday nights’ couple of laps shakedown times – which was treated as a small quali).

Podium for winner of each respective class:

Overall podium of all classes:

The heavy braking and hard acceleration areas of white lane did catch out quite a few of the cars.  Demon Tweeks’ Lamborghini and Modsports Corvette, both very fast in their own right, excelled in the yellow lane where they could flow through the bends and maintain momentum; but both struggled in white lane where they didn’t have the braking force or the punch out of the tight bends that some others had.  (This is also exacerbated slightly by the fact one of our fastest drivers happened to be on yellow).
Bangers Racing Z4 was an absolute delight around here, as were the Revo Viper duo of Brumos and Paint Horse One.  And Oxo’s Sauber was baffling for an early 1990’s Scalextric car.
It's always a little awkward when your own car wins at your own round, especially when it didn’t show this kind of prowess in round 1.  But my 956 was built to compete in our Porsche Endurance Challenge at this track, and it’s a tried and tested setup that just works well around here so I knew what it was capable of.

Many thanks to the Viking Club Guys, these results will be very interesting to analyse  Sun

And I would not be embarrassed about the “local cars” coming good, home advantage is and always will, be a feature of slot car racing regardless of if it’s a proxy or “live” attendance event.
Cars which are built for a specific track just have the advantage, regardless of the driver. And in our case there are just not enough “neutral” tracks available to make the proxy series independent of this effect, but overall with 8 rounds, this bias is usually not the predominant factor in determining the overal winners.

I am out tonight at our local slot car club tonight, so will post up the cumulative results tomorrow.
