1966 Olds 442 W30
#1

This year of Olds 442 was an odd duck. I may be wrong, but I can't think of anyone turning one of these into a slot car. If you got one, please show us.

These are the parts I bought for $5. Barely enough for a slot car. I have since located the tail lights at a flea market.

I found a pic of a completed kit on Google that inspired me to paint it Tamiya Cobalt Green.

The body was painted, and a custom chassis was machined.

The car fell on it's roof seconds after being painted. Luckily a vinyl roof was in the works anyways.

This is the part where I hold my breath. Mating the chassis to the body.

The car runs. It needs bumpers, chrome trim, windows, and interior.

More to follow. Thank you very kindly for looking.

A little more progress. A ton of Molotow chrome penwork yet to come. Then the windows.

Looks fantastic Ken, what do you use to fix the white spacers to the chassis?

Thank you very kindly, Tony.

5-minute epoxy is used to fix the #227 Evergreen styrene tubing to the body.

My apologies Tony. I read your post wrong.

I use 4-40 press-in brass inserts with #227 Evergreen styrene tubing.

Link here.

It's also available in bulk from here. A bit cheaper too. I buy them by the hundreds. I build too many cars.

Part # 628-575 on page C199.
