Race reports - 13th July - Mike Dove Memorial Classic GP & Prewing F1 team race
Six racers tonight, four of us decided to use the same car for both rounds of racing.
As I don’t have the full results, I can’t say which races were closest and other interesting facts so I've done a results chart along the lines of a qually race - and used the hot lap as the qually time (I would have used the fastest of first 5 laps in Red lane).
It was a team event so each driver's scores were added together which meant six teams.
As usual with qually and predicted results, the fastest cars weren't at the top of the results.

Next week is GP/Prewing F1 plus Classic F1/F1
Six racers tonight, four of us decided to use the same car for both rounds of racing.
- Geoff raced a slower (read a lap faster) car in round #2
- Brian ‘you can’t beat proper preparation’ when a rear wheel flew off into the crowd at full speed…thankfully nobody was hurt as the 3-wheels-on-my-Vanwall ground to a stop at the end of the straight
- Ed is finally getting to grips with this thumb controller now…as his shiny new Lancia Ferrari D50 left red paint (and some blue off the drivers helmet) on the wall at the end of the room. Thanks to Brian spending untold hours setting the car up, it goes great…even when it’s sharing someone else’s lane and being chased round
- Andy was laughing so hard at times he couldn’t speak, marshalling can be fun. The Ferrari 156 was the sole pre-wing car and racing alone a few laps ahead of the rest
- Chris’s Maserati fishtailed out of every turn but it’s super consistent which is what you want when it’s a handicap type race like this
- Kev arrived off the boat at 6.30, he’d left his racing gear from the week before and practised racing with one of Mike D’s Mercs but rear axle problems left the car in the garage so raced a couple of Auto Unions
- …and Kev forgot his memory stick, how ironic is that!...”no no, I no forget…I no remember”
- Gav popped in nicely dressed, stayed for a little while then had an appointment (rumoured to be something to do with a yacht and a private jet and preaching to the world about climate change)
