Would like to introduce JS Chassis design, a home hobby group supplying 3d printed chassis’ for old and new Scalextrics, Fly, SCX, Ninco,  Carrera, Teamslot, Pioneer, Advant and the Supershells range of F1 & GT shells plus a range of bodyshells.

Currently we are residing on Facebook with our JS Chassis page where we post regular update on new chassis’, take requests and otherwise show case the products.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/334624240364589

The current range has over 250 chassis’ listed with permutations of motor orientation (AW, IL & SW) on many of these using our own pod system which is integral to the chassis on torsion arms (suspension feature) or using the Slot It Touring pod. Where possible the chassis’ are offered with a range of motors from the FF50 (slimline) to the FC130 (black stripe Scalex etc) and the FH180 (Boxer) & FK180 (short can).

A full list of chassis, bodies and spare parts can be found in the PDFs in post 3 of this thread.

Some examples of cars built up by the group and customers.

As someone who lives in a house with small rooms, I've always found the smaller scale slot cars very attractive. My main interest over the past 10-15 years has been HO (1/72 to 1/64 scale), but I do really like 1/43 - there are the benefits of plenty of track in a small space and bigger, more detailed cars.

A few years ago, I  built a 1/43 track with Carrera Go!!! track and homemade driver stations with adjustable brakes for using Parma controllers. I raced a variety of cars, some with magnets, some without...

It was a fun track for a small 6 x 3 foot space and looked good too - although I never quite finished all the detailing I planned to do. Then demands for that space changed. My slot car work bench was replaced with a work desk, filing cabinets and computers. The 1/43 track table was re-allocated as the work bench, so this sad event needed to happen...

Most of my Carrera Go!!! track was donated to the HONK Racing Club in Kent for their regular 1/43 scale racing (including an appearance at the UK Slot Car Festival this year). So if you want to race 1/43 in the UK, you can find HONK on facebook here. I also sold quite a few of my 1/43 cars, but not all by any means. I still have some Go!!! track, a GO Plus control unit and Pit Stop Game unit - plus a couple of Go!!! cars, four Kyosho Dslot GT cars and a very nice bunch of SCX Compact Nascars, DTM, GT and Trans-Am cars.

My 1/43 racing is now very ad-hoc with a small 4 to 5 metre track set up on the floor or a table (sometimes the work desk). It's my adventures with GO Plus and both the official Carrera and the SmartRace apps that I'll be sharing here.

DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) and Japanese Super GT are two series I quite enjoy catching on livestreaming or YouTube highlights. And there are - of course - plenty of slot cars from both series that have been produced over the years in various scales. I have one or two.

This weekend moves a significant step towards the culmination of a process that aligns the technical regulations of the two series so that teams can compete in both. Discussions started in 2010 and the new 'Class One' rules were adopted by DTM this year and due in Super GT for 2020. The DTM season finale at Hockenheim will feature wildcard entries by three Super GT cars - a Honda, a Nissan and a Lexus - as a symbolic joining of the two series. Reigning Super GT champion Jenson Button will drive the Honda.

In the UK, coverage of Race One (Saturday 12.15pm) and Race Two (Sunday 12.15pm) is on FreeSports (www.freesports.tv/tv-schedule) and livestreamed on the DTM website:  www.dtm.com/de/live-experience

This first event in Germany will be followed by a joint event at Fuji on 22-24 November that has been termed the "Super GT x DTM Dream Race" and is the last action of 2019 for both series. The weekend will be run to the DTM format of two 55-minute (plus one lap) races with a mandatory pit stop for a tyre change and no driver changes or refuelling (as in Super GT). The race will not use the DTM push-to-pass or DRS devices. All the DTM manufacturers will be represented in Fuji, with 6-10 DTM cars expected to take part. For both the Hockenheim and Fuji events, a Balance of Performance will be in operation as the Super GT cars are not yet Class One compliant.

This is some video from a ceremonial DTM visit to Motegi in 2017...

"Bring back the ******* V12's"

There is a sentence I can wholeheartedly get behind, I have been shouting something similar at the TV ever since the start of the Hybrid F1 cars :)

A small tip: I have had to replace a lot of the signage on my track because it was very badly faded. The reason - UV light. There are no windows in my garage so it was not sunlight that did it, the culprit was the 8ft twin fluorescent light fitting.

The left hand sign is a freshly printed one and the right hand one is the result of 12 month's exposure. Now the garage was just about the only part of my home which was not lit by LEDs so, before replacing the signage, I fitted a high output single 6ft LED strip-light like THIS. LEDs do not emit UV so the new signs are fade free after 6 months with the added bonus that the new fitting consumes 1/3rd of the electricity with the same light output.

This has been a relatively quick project - about 4 months.

I saw mention of a 1:32 2000GT kit by Aoshima that looked very good. It was a "snap-kit" but very highly detailed and equipped. I instantly recalled the 2000GT convertible featured in a Bond movie and decided to replicate that.
A short intro - the movie "You Only Live Twice" featured Japan and presumably Toyota were keen to showcase their new 2000GT coupe.  The movie makers soon realised that Sean Connery would not fit well in the low slung car, so Toyota built two convertible versions especially.  The convertibles were never offered in production. In the actual movie James did not drive the car, he was chauffeured by "Aki".
The kit interior is very nice and essential for an open top car so motorising it would need a front-motor installation and I was spurred on by mention of a suitable chassis being designed for 3D printing. The chassis became available as I removed the roof and filled in the rear deck, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I had a set of wire wheels which fitted nicely so was all set.
Huge thanks to the chassis designer who has an appropriate ID of "tomato_007".

I am quite pleased with the result including that it handles well and is nice to drive.

For SlotRacer eyes only - Aki saves James -

Oh, Oh, Leo
