A last minute race invitation went out. 9-racers accepted the challenge for a total of 10-racers including the host.

The first challenge... Pizza and refreshments!  Pizza

The first class up to race. Classic Stock Cars. Urethane tires. Any chassis/gears. Jack Rabbit motor. 100-gram minimum weight.

The next class was USRRC. A very wide field of cars. Almost anything can race. Urethane tires. BWA slow motor.

Classic LeMans was next. Stock Fly, Scalex, etc. Stock 18k motor. Urethane tires.

The last class to race was Modern F1. Urethane tires. 25k RPM motor max. Insanely fast. My car flew off the track and a marshal caught it in his hand before it hit the floor. My lucky day!

Thank you very kindly for looking.

Looking across the main distributors of Scalextric products it appears that stock of the C7042 Advanced Power Base (APB) has run low.

Also, we now know that when throttle ports fail this can also lead to wider reliability issues with the APB - so it is often not as simple as avoiding using the dead ports.

This brings consideration of whether the microcontroller can be removed and replaced, back into scope.

Over the next few posts I will share a step-by-step guide covering the removal and replacement of the microcontroller.

This is not something that everyone can try. However there are likely to be a few members across the digital slot car community who will have the skills and equipment to successfully carry out the procedures involved.

What will follow is a high-level outline guide.

I hope this thread generates some interest and proves useful too.

The subtitle says "scratch builds and kit bashing". I was looking for where this post might fit in and this seems a likely spot as I am selling kits as well as chassis (3d printed). So bash away.

After a few years of making chassis and, more recently, car kits for my own use and that of other racers in our group here on the Gold Coast of Australia, I've bitten the bullet and opened a webshop. https://www.pgrslotcars.com/
The site is somewhat a work in progress (and probably always will be as I develop more cars and chassis).

There are still 10-15 more chassis that I need to add, but this will give you an idea of what I'm trying to do. Just keep checking back in.

Hope you see some things you like.
Cheers, Peter

Been a cooking project since Christmas for the local digital club Falcon Raceways to take the gubbins out of the Scalex child sized ARC AIR handle and put the bits into a 3dp handle that is a bit more man sized.

Numerous iterations on the design and print, got to a stage where it was working but needed details tidying to get to a practical design. This sat on the shelf for several months as I was busy on other projects, then Dave a Falcon club member stepped in took over the design and completed as shown below in the coloured prints.

Below is the 3rd, 4th or 15th iteration (lost count, can say I have 20 Design iteration files) showing the internals, the overall size, the custom Falcon logo and how the parts interact between Scalex and 3dp at the prototype stage I reached.

Dave tidied up the battery compartment and some other adjustments on general fit and printed these for the Falcon club as shown below where recently they were used in anger on a club race night.

Cheers

I have a 1954 chevy truck that I’ve had for 30 years, driving it for the last 28 like this
Would love a body in 1/32.
Any idea/sources?
I’ve looked with no luck.
Found a STL file but it looks solid- wheels and all ?

I picked up a 2.1m x 800mm mdf off cut for $2 so thought I’d try routing a digital track piece starting with the digital lane first. That way it would be a smooth transition and I’d only have to route the parallel lanes around it. Took a bit longer than the traditional way but came out ok, now technically this is not the best race line. best line would be to cross the middle directly to inside, but I wanted to give the option to middle lane to a faster or “real race car” line, just playing with ideas

A friend held a 1/24 event today. 5-racers showed up for coffee, bagels, and a race broke out.

Boulevard Cruisers were up first.

Followed by BRM Group-2.

Muscle Cars were up next.

The last class to race was a 1/24 ScaleAuto IROC class provided by our kind and generous host. I must apologize. I got distracted and missed the photo opportunity.

Thank you very kindly for looking,
Ken

It is from an early Monogram Ford GT - the type that have a blue front and 11 molded into the body.  I have another of the same car which has the wire drop-arm chassis.

I have had these track pieces for decades.
I’m now in my forever home so a new layout was in order.
The base is a 4’ x8’ (1.2 M x 2.4M not sure exactly what a metric one is called)box core-thin ply over a pine grid. Light and strong.
I went for the track on an old airfield.
Very happy with the look.
