Race reports - 13th July - Mike Dove Memorial Classic GP & Prewing F1 team race
Six racers tonight, four of us decided to use the same car for both rounds of racing.
- Geoff raced a slower (read a lap faster) car in round #2
- Brian ‘you can’t beat proper preparation’ when a rear wheel flew off into the crowd at full speed…thankfully nobody was hurt as the 3-wheels-on-my-Vanwall ground to a stop at the end of the straight
- Ed is finally getting to grips with this thumb controller now…as his shiny new Lancia Ferrari D50 left red paint (and some blue off the drivers helmet) on the wall at the end of the room. Thanks to Brian spending untold hours setting the car up, it goes great…even when it’s sharing someone else’s lane and being chased round
- Andy was laughing so hard at times he couldn’t speak, marshalling can be fun. The Ferrari 156 was the sole pre-wing car and racing alone a few laps ahead of the rest
- Chris’s Maserati fishtailed out of every turn but it’s super consistent which is what you want when it’s a handicap type race like this
- Kev arrived off the boat at 6.30, he’d left his racing gear from the week before and practised racing with one of Mike D’s Mercs but rear axle problems left the car in the garage so raced a couple of Auto Unions
- …and Kev forgot his memory stick, how ironic is that!...”no no, I no forget…I no remember”
- Gav popped in nicely dressed, stayed for a little while then had an appointment (rumoured to be something to do with a yacht and a private jet and preaching to the world about climate change)
As I don’t have the full results, I can’t say which races were closest and other interesting facts so I've done a results chart along the lines of a qually race - and used the hot lap as the qually time (I would have used the fastest of first 5 laps in Red lane).
It was a team event so each driver's scores were added together which meant six teams.
As usual with qually and predicted results, the fastest cars weren't at the top of the results.

Next week is GP/Prewing F1 plus Classic F1/F1
Hi guys, I'm just getting back into slot cars after a long period away from the hobby.
I am building a wooden routed and braided track and want to know:
Q1. what lane spacing I need for 1:24 Flexi and wing cars using s16d and g20 motors.
Q2. I have my old Parma 2ohm controller which was a resistor unit but they don't seem to be available here in Australia any more. What can I replace them with?
Thanks, Tim
Is anyone else having problems 'liking' posts? I'm just getting the egg timer and no likes being added.
Morning...
Can anyone assist two very basic questions...I'm trying to retrofit a Scalextric C7005 chip into a car and I cannot find a wiring diagram anywhere: -
1. Which braid do I connect the green power cable to, and which the yellow?
2. Which tab on a Pendle AC6 motor is the positive...I cannot see any red dot!
I'm presuming that wiring digital plugs the wrong way will probably end in a small explosion and tears.
Thank you
(I hate electronics!)
I have a number of MG Vanquish Can Am cars missing mirrors, the majority of which seem to use the same piece.
Can anyone suggest a source of replacements please? I'm not expecting 'unobtanium' originals but some suitable cheap, repeatable and easily obtained parts to give them a finished look.
Thanks.

Hello
Can anyone give any advice or help please.
On my two four lane tracks we use the DS hand controllers, V2, at 45 ohm. These have proved very good and reliable, so far....
One of the controllers has lost its braking effect. Release the trigger and the car keeps on running, instead of stopping almost immediately as usual. Not a sticking trigger, just no braking effect.
I have the swapped the controller to each of the 4 lanes, and it is definitely the controller.
All lanes work fine with any of the other 3 controllers, and I have tried various cars.
Any ideas as to what has happened, or advice on possible fixes great fully accepted
Thanks,
Pip
After moving from Norfolk to Dorset, I thought long and hard about building another wooden rally track to replace my old track, 'Little Monte'. Eventually, after doing the necessary decorating in the house, I decided early this year to explore the possibility of fitting an interesting track into my, much smaller, 8' x 6' shed.
As always, this track was to be built on a tight budget, using materials I had to hand or could get cheaply. The track bases were all made out of some 5' x 6" x 12mm plywood boards that I found locally on Marketplace for £2 each. using my old Bosch jigsaw, I cut most of these boards lengthways to give a 3" wide shelf to mount the trackbase on.
With the bases in place, I added the roadway, made partly out of 3mm hardboard, from Freecycle, layed double height, to give a 6mm depth. The rest of the roadway was from 6mm MDF, which I bought from a DIY store in town. All straight track pieces were cut in 1 1/8" wide strips, laid side by side, with an 1/8" gap between them for the slots. These road surfaces were glued and screwed in place using PVA wood glue. The turns were made with the 6mm MDF.
To be continued.
Regards, Lloyd
