Lap Timer Settings
KLap Timer Settings
Select the File | Options menuFile Menu item to open the Lap Timer Options property sheet and then click on the Settings tab to display Lap Timer Settings. You can also go directly to the Lap Timer Settings property sheet page using the Edit | Settings menuEdit Menu command or the Alt+S shortcut.
This window will allow you to specify the way Lap Timer handles timer interrupt events. A description of the various settings follows.
KTimer Resolution
Lap Timer can time laps with up to 1000th of a second accuracy. Some older and slower computer systems will not work properly at these higher timing rates. The Timer Resolution setting allows you select the full 1000th of a second timing using the 1ms. setting. If your computer “locks up” when Lap Timer is run at the highest 1ms. timing, try reducing the timer resolution to 5ms. or 10ms.
KDebounce Delay
Use this setting to specify a short delay after a slot car trips the lap counter. Due to the high speed of the Lap Timer 2000 interrupt vector, multiple laps may be detected while polling. You can specify a delay of between 100 and 10000 milliseconds (10 seconds.) If Lap Timer 2000 is counting multiple laps try increasing this setting to between 250 milliseconds (1/4 second) and 1000 milliseconds (1 second.)
Note The Debounce Delay setting can also be used to prevent false lap counts when a second car, or rider, crosses the start/finish line in the wrong lane. Specify a delay setting just slightly less than the fastest anticipated lap time to disallow erroneous lap counts.
For example, if your track normally has an average lap time of 3.750 seconds or greater you could set the delay period to 3000 milliseconds (3 seconds) to ignore laps under the 3 second time limit. This will greatly reduce the chances of a rider triggering a false lap when running in the wrong lane.
If you don’t understand what this setting does, then please use a 500 millisecond delay.
KInvert Lap Switching Logic
Lap Timer 2000 can be used with either normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) lap counter switches. Use this setting to invert lap counter switching logic.
Note: Photo-cells are normally closed (NC) devices and will probably need to have their output states inverted.
KScreen
Use this setting to specify the screen size of your computer’s display monitor. If you would like the Lap Timer 2000 main program window to be smaller than the actual size of your desktop select a lower screen resolution from the drop list. The following screen resolutions are available: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864 and 1280x1024.
KCustom Fonts
Use this setting to specify custom display fontsEdit Menu instead of using the pre-defined Lap Timer 2000 fonts.
KOK
Press this button when you have completed your selection of Lap Timer program options. When you press this button the Lap Timer Options property sheet will be closed and your settings will be saved.
KCancel
Press this button to close the Lap Timer Options property sheet without making any changes. If you have made any changes to the settings and then press this button your changes will not be used, and your previous settings will remain in use.
KHelp
Press this button to open the Lap Timer Help Window and go directly to the Lap Timer Settings topic.
KNote The options you have selected will be saved when you press the OK button. The desktop location of the Lap Timer Options window itself will also be stored. Your settings will be saved in the MS Windows System RegistrySystem Registry.
