I/O Port Testing
KI/O Port Testing
Lap Timer 2000 provides facilities to test the I/O ports on your computer. Select the Edit | Test I/O Ports menuEdit Menu command or use the Alt+O shortcut to open the I/O Port Testing Window.
Note This command is only available if the Printer or Serial port has been specified. Lap Timer 2000 defaults to the Race | Practice mode when first launched. You can do all of your sensor testing from the Practice mode. Simply run your hand over the photo-cells to test lap counting and timing. The I/O Test facilities are only useful to experienced users and hardware engineers.
KTest Port
Select the port that your track sensors are connected to from the drop list.
KInvert I/O Port Data
Check this box to invert I/O port switching logic. Sensors attached to Lap Timer 2000 can be Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) switches.
KTest
Press this button to start the I/O port tests once you have selected an I/O port from the list box above.
Open and close the track switches or sensors and monitor the status results for each lane on your raceway.
NOTE Lane number 2 will often show results that are the reverse of the other three lanes when testing the printer port. This is normal, and will not effect Lap Timer 2000’s ability to sense lap triggering. Lap Timer 2000 will automatically correct for lane number 2 differences.
KOK
Press this button when you have completed your port tests.
KCancel
Press this button to cancel I/O port testing.
KHelp
Press this button to open the Lap Timer Help Window and go directly to the I/O Port Testing topic.
