KKeyboard Interface

Lap Timer 2000 can be used to manually count and time laps using the keyboard as the input device. Use the Edit | Ports menu command to select the interfaceLap Timer Ports to be used.

KWhen the Keyboard interface is specified the four (4) drop lists displayed to the right of this option will be enabled. Select the unique key to be used for recording laps for lanes 1 to 4. The alphabetic keys A-Z or numeric keys 1-9 can be used.

Touch-typists may prefer [A]  [F]  [H]  [L] keystroke mapping so as to allow both hands to be positioned comfortably on the home row of the keyboard.

KThis type of interface is useful for full scale racing and timing when photo-cells are not available. In the keyboard mode a user seated at the keyboard can manually trigger lap counts and times for up to four racers. Like a manual stopwatch, the timing will only be as accurate as the person who is actually recording events.

For best results the operator should be positioned at the start/finish line with a clear and unobstructed view directly across the track. As cars pass the line the operator presses the appropriate key corresponding to the car or lane currently crossing the line. For accuracy and consistency the front nose of the car should be the point that is watched and recorded.
