Aurora Plastics Corporation was founded in 1950, began producing its own line of plastic model kits in 1952, and in 1960 released Aurora Model Motoring, an HO scale slot car system.

The company was successful through the 60s, and in 1971 released the AFX (Aurora Factory Experimentals) line of slot cars, which continued production until the company was forced into receivership in 1983.
