Autumn 2019 news from Policar, Fly, Thunderslot & Le Mans Miniatures
#1

Gaugemaster - one of the main slot car distributors in the UK - sent us some news of up-coming releases to put on the list for Santa...

Christmas is coming! And that means its the season for Slot cars. No really it is, most slot accessories and nearly all the sets are sold over this period. Okay, so Ninco is off the radar at the moment as far as sets are concerned but will still should have the great value Policar sets here in time for the festive period.

POLT001A   Retail £99.95

On the subject of Policar, their excellent range of high detailed Classic F1 cars is soon to be expanded by the release of the Jean-Pierre Jarier March 701 that the Frenchman raced at Monza in 1971.

POLCAR04D  Retail £59.95 - Due Soon

While there will be more liveries of this car and their excellent Lotus 72, all eyes will be on Policar's next Classic F1 release the Ferrari 312B2, which now sadly won't make it to us before Christmas but certainly very early next year.

Ferrari 312B2 F1 from Policar - details to follow

Classic Formula One seems to be the popular choice at the moment for slot cars and Fly are producing models in both plastic and in resin. Soon to be with us will be the Hesketh 308, made famous by James Hunt.

Being assembled in Madrid as I write this, is a resin bodied Surtees TS19. By using resin it means that one avoids the massive costs in making injection mould tooling, and therefore allows manufacturers to produce smaller runs on cars that would not normally see the day as a ready-to-run slot car model. This car's sponsor caused controversy - the BBC thought it too offensive for prudish viewers and would not televise races that the car appeared in. There will be just 150 of each of these models produced by Fly and with so many F1 collectors out there I dont think they will have trouble selling them.

FLYRW03-1 Surtees TS19 Monaco GP 1976 Alan Jones   Retail £145 very Limited

On the subject of Limited Editions and Mr Surtees, we have received our special commission from the Italian manufacturer Thunderslot. In 1967 Surtees entered two Aston Martin powered Lola T70's into the Le Mans 24hrs. Thunderslot cars are primarily for racing but we saw a opportunity to appeal to collectors with this special livery, the only time the Surtees Lolas raced in green.

TSLUKLTD001 Lola T70 MkII Le Mans 1967 - UK exclusive only 200 units   Retail £89.95

And finally... we have this fabulous model from Le Mans Miniatures made in resin and by default a Limited Edition. All of LMM's models are hand built and are rarely repeated. This time we have a Porsche 917LH from Le Mans 1971 resplendent in the correct Martini livery. Not bad price either for such an exclusive model.

Until next time...
