I want to have a bash at resin-casting some small parts - specifically Scalextric Escort bumpers and a few different variations of wheel inserts.
Is it preferable to pre-colour the resin, or airbrush the finished article?
Thanks,
Stuart.
Best regards,
Stuart.

Thank you, Munter.

I think that is probably the answer I wanted.
Best regards,
Stuart.

Well, I found the UK sources of "resin" to be a minefield.
I bought
this stuff, and their recommended tints. It isn't giving the results I expected, and it's taking 48hrs to set.
Munter recommended, by PM, to try
these people, but I'm still at a loss as to which resin I need. As a reminder, I'm looking to cast small parts - bumpers and wheel inserts, mostly.
All suggestions of UK sources, and which resin to buy, gratefully accepted.
Thanks,
Stuart.
Best regards,
Stuart.

Stuart,
I have never looked at Tiranti's website before but having just now done so this one looks like a good starting point.
50 odd quid though.

Note the low viscosity

Thank you, John.

That gives me a bit more to go on.
Best regards,
Stuart.

Thanks for your input, Joel.

Smooth-on is my go-to for tyre production products. Not the cheapest, but I'm happy with it.
The Fastcast that John linked almost had me, but 2kg is far too much for me and they don't appear to have smaller quantities.
I could do with ordering more silicon from Bentley's so I'll give the Smooth-Cast 322 a go.
Best regards,
Stuart.

As long as viscosity is low, pot life is 2-5 minutes and demould time is under an hour, shrinkage is minimal, shore hardness is 65 or a bit more……then go for it.
