LMM Renault 5 Alpine Group 2, second overall Tour de Corse 1979
#1

Last Friday my order from Le Mans Miniatures arrived:
The Renault 5 Alpine Group 2, driven to a nice second place overall by Jean Ragnotti & Jean-Marc Andrié in the Tour de Corse 1979.
A remarkable result for such a small front-wheel drive car on the winding asphalt roads of Corsica.
It is now available in the ready to run GTS-Series at https://www.lemansminiatures.com.

There will be a report about this beauty in the May issue of Slot Car Magazine.

That does look even nicer than in the publicity shots  Thumbup

I’d included it in the Digest for tomorrow - and I shall now add a link to this thread.

One question - how do the LMM Renault 5s perform? Are they fun - or all show? I was very tempted by the Calberson cars, but a Gitanes livery is almost irresistible.

Thank you for liking the photo.

The Gitanes version was already one of my favourites when it still was only available as a kit.
When it was launched as a ready to run car it immediately became a must have.
It is an irresistible, very beautiful, well detailed and correctly scaled down car; one of Benoît Moro's many masterpieces.

Unsurprisingly with this small size and heavy body, it doesn't perform like a Formula one car.
For sure you will not break the lap record with this Alpine, but it is really fun to watch it running on the track.
