Are their 'Superthane' tyres urethane? At a guess I'd say yes.
At any rate, trued up and without magnets they seem fine on Scalextric Sport track

I am not sure whether they are or not. Certainly they are not as good on wood as other urethanes if they are. I replaced the stock tyres on my legends with WASP ones and took a whole second off the lap times. No experience on plastic track though.

Thanks Brian.
I suppose it's a question that needs to be asked of Pioneer then. I've no problem with the tyres at all, as they worked just fine on the B St E circuit's Sport track.
Just curious, that's all.

I asked Jules this a while back, no they are not urethanes.

I found exactly the same results,
The tyres are perfectly fine on Scalextric Sport Track (repainted with Ultra smooth masonry paint), but not great on the routed track.
The little Legend spent as much time going sideways as forwards
Brian, please could you tell me which size WASP tyres fitted, if possible.
Thanks,
Pip

I use WASP #18 which are officially for SCX NASCARs but fit Legends nicely. Tel (Savage GT) prefers #13 which are a bit smaller and meant for Pioneer Dodge Chargers.

Thanks all. Trying to stick with all stock parts so they won't get a change of tyres - but as mentioned, they seem fine on Sport track.

Having checked the WASP Slot tyre fitment chart, WASP 18 and WASP 27 are exactly the same size.....had some 27's already and they fitted a treat

Chaps,
The Pioneer 'SupaThane' tyres are not pure Polyurethane and neither are they pure rubber.
They are a composite, specifically engineered to be long lasting but also resistant to 'goo' degradation and age cracks.
'SupaThane' is merely a brand name, not meant to be particularly descriptive.
The aftermarket for alternative tyres seems to be well served. If in the future there appears to be some commercial sense in Pioneer producing fully synthetic tyres then I shall put my white lab coat on and get down to the research department and crank out some deluxe tyres.
Cheers,
Jules
