SRC Toyota LMP1 TS050 Hybrid - Le Mans 2018
#1

SRC have open pre-orders today (see here) for the first liveried, high-detail 'Original' versions of their Toyota TS050 Hybrid Le Mans Prototype.

SRC 10001 - Toyota LMP1 TS050 Hybrid Le Mans Winner 2018 #8. RRP 96,00€. Available December 2021. Limited to 2015 units.
SRC 10002 - Toyota LMP1 TS050 Hybrid Le Mans 2018 #7. RRP 96,00€. Available December 2021. Limited to 1015 units.
Pack Toyota - Toyota LMP1 TS050 Hybrid Le Mans 2018 #7 + #8. RRP 192,00€. Available December 2021.

The SRC team have also released some photos of the first prototypes...

If pre-ordered from the SRC website before 1 November 2021, a 20€ voucher will be redeemable on future purchases. Pre-ordering both models gives you a 50€ voucher.

The promotion coincides with this year's Le Mans weekend - and Toyota have a good chance of winning their fourth successive Le Mans 24 hours, a sequence started in 2018...

The #8 car of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso took pole and the race win, ahead of their teammates Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López in the #7 car. With the withdrawal of Audi in 2016 and Porsche in 2017, Toyota were the only big manufacturer to remain in LMP1 for 2018. Their win made up for last-lap heartbreak in 2016 and retirement from a dominant position in 2017... a win is never a foregone conclusion at Le Mans...

The SRC Toyota is the most up-to-date Le Mans Prototype produced as a ready-to-run slot car. Not everyone is happy with it - the Digital Slot Car Association has refused it entry to their prestigious oXigen Le Mans event on scale accuracy grounds - but performance of the Chrono kits suggest it will be a successful runner in club LMP and modern Le Mans classes around the world.

The specs of these cars are very slightly different to the Chrono kit released earlier in the year (see News item here). This is what will go into your ready-to-run model...

One would hope the 2mm axle is an error and they meant 2.38 ....
Other than that, looks a nice model, but as the white kits hit our shores at £85, one dreads to think of the price of the RTR.
For me, the cost rules it out, let alone on a chassis (or more specifically a motor pod arrangement that is unproven and incompatible with industry standards) I am not 100% sure about.
Pity as it looks great.

Do we know what the differences are? (without going through both sets of specs)

The front axle is 2mm there is a visual difference between both the front and rear axles. I just opened my kit to check.  That said, it’s been sitting for a month and a half so it’s time to get to work.
