Bit of a mess - superglue incident
#1

Evening all

Made the mistake of supergluing a driver into the T6 last night and shutting the lid on the project box.

This has now resulted in the bodywork resembling a crime scene of fingerprints that the glue residue has stuck too Tappingfoot

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of the fingerprints? Tried nail varnish remover and that started to lift the paint.

Tried soapy water and that had no effect either

I’d be a rubbish criminal with the amount of prints on the car  Bigsmile

Panic over, good old T-Cut and a decent wax sorted it

To clean up crystalwork, the cleaner fluids supplied to refurbish dulled and scratched plastic headlight lenses of 1:1 cars works well.
It is a lot of physical work and it works better if the crystalwork is removed from the model, but does the job.

I still use superglue to put crystalwork and interiors into slot cars, but oh so small amounts and only for the second refit (and beyond) where the fitting pegs are long gone.
AND I leave it to cure for a day before putting the body back on the chassis, never mind putting it in the kit box.

That vapour residue sits everywhere , not just on bodies.
Not good for motors or other moving parts!

I recently suggested 'jewellers rouge' to a clubmate with superglue frosted windows...and it worked!

On the back of that I got a small sample packet of cerium oxide powder to which you add water to make a paste which is widely used for polishing glass...I've yet to try it but don't have any superglue frosted glass handy.

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers
