SRC Lancia Delta S4, winner Rally Costa Brava 1986.
#1

Next Thursday, 15 April, SRC will launch their third Original version of the Lancia Delta S4.
After Tabaton's Rally Principe de Asturias 1986 winning S4, now the Spaniards enlarge their range with his Rally Costa Brava 1986 winning Delta S4.
That debut win was Tabaton's base for becoming  European Rally Champion in 1986.

Tabaton used four different Deltas during the season. The Rally Costa Brava 1986 car had chassis no. 221 and for the Asturias he used chassis no. 203.
But not only the licence plate, rally plates and sponsor logos differ on both SRC cars. The roof spoiler on the new Costa Brava S4 is also of a different shape, as are the rims on which gravel tires are mounted.
At the front, the Siem covers can be replaced by lights.

Here are the first photos of the new SRC Rally Costa Brava 1986 winning Lancia Delta S4.

Do the gravel tyres on this car offer any benefit on particular type of slot tracks, or are they just there to represent what was fitted to the actual car?

Hi Jeremy,

I have not yet received the new car, but if I compare the slicks with the gravel tyres of their Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, the latter are more flexible.
The slicks are also wider. On bumpy tracks, the gravel tyres may have a advantage. They will absorb better.
It depends what kind of track you have. I think testing both tyre types is necessary to know which is the best choice.

The wider slick tyre needs a flat and clean surface to build up grip. The gravel tyre is better on a dusty and/or dirty track.
Grits from the model train shop, which is very common on scenic tracks, disappear easier through the rough profile of a gravel tyre.
Slicks will lose grip, because dust and grits will stick to the tyre surface.

This is the high-detail version of the car, I expect that the competition version (Chrono) will have the slicks.

I haven't got any information about the Chrono version yet, but it is always possible to change from gravel to slick RN0111:

Probably not in this thread, but I would be really interested in some detail on the SRC tyre range. I haven't been able to spot the differences between compounds etc. from their codes.

Just ordered this beauty  Sun

Two things came as a surprise, first one was that I had to fill a certain ID/TIN or so that I don’t have and is not needed for me to buy as a privateer. I initially put in a zero but that didn’t work. So I put in 8 zeroes followed by a capital A (like in the example) and this did work.

Second one was the shipping cost. Although it was advertised on the website 7 euro for shipping in Europe, and previously I was indeed charged with 7 euro now I got charged 14 euro. So didn’t buy the T-shirt.

What I really like about SRC is that they listen to their customers. It was an issue for some that the car in “night” dress still had the Siem covers on the inner headlights.

With this new livery they addressed this, here’s a YouTube video showing how it’s done:
