PCS Customised Mazda MX-5 MK1 Kit - 3 Versions
#1

Pendle Slot Racing have just unveiled a new 'customised' model of their already fabulous PCS Mazda MX-5 MK1 Kit. The new model has wide wheel arches and new interior details, plus the option to build a left or right hand drive car. However, another notable feature is that the new model comes in three different versions - 'Lights Down', Lights Up' and 'Sleepy Eyes'. Go on, just click on the image below...

Did you see what they did there?

The body kits on their own cost £32.99 and include an unpainted resin body shell, clear lexan windscreen, detailed resin interior (with the option to make it left or right-hand drive), unpainted resin driver figure, headlights (down, up or 'sleepy') and two red tail lights.

Let's take a look at those different headlight versions again...

PCS-B015a - Lights Down

PCS-B015b - Lights Up

PCS-B015c - Sleepy Eyes

Which are you going to choose?

Each body kit version also has two options of complete kits - with the body and full running gear. One option with plastic wheels (£47.99) and the other with aluminium hubs all round (£57.99). Both full kits includes the PCS32 adjustable chassis and all the components required to build a working slot car...

An upgrade to the PCS32 chassis has just been produced - although is not included in these kits. It is a 3D printed reworking of the front axle holder...

The new part is more rigid and has adjustable front axle height (grub screws included). there are also channels for the motor cables. The product code is PSR-3DP-02 and is available now, priced £7.96. That's an excellent upgrade for an old favourite.

Many thanks to Neil and Sean at Pendle Slot Racing for the pictures and information.

Very nice looking kit and makes a nice model of a modified road car.

If you want to create a  racing version it is a shame the hardtop could not be supplied as an easily removable part as most uk based MX5 racers run with roll bars and no hardtop, but I do understand this would have cost implications. However this kit looks very similar to the cars running in the US Miata series, where extended arches and hardtop use is the norm also they have there some great liveries over there just waiting to be copied.

Well done guys.....very neat kit.
