Maserati. part deux.
#1

I had an arrival on friday....

As you will know I have a passion for thing’s  red .  For a while I have had a couple of non- Ferrari’s that are almost red. But they are 2 of my favourites in my collection. So decided to add to them .... and these have arrived.

George Turners awesome Fiat Bartoletti, and another of George’s amazing engine detailed 300s

Which will compliment Phil Smith's stupendous birdcage with full metal soldered cage, and GT's original 300s with full engine build.....

The build will continue and I can tell you that Fiat is not easy.... Rofl

What do you think??

Now that I have recovered from the suggestion that it should not be painted red, I have done some work.

It is an outstanding casting, as well as a superb design. However there is a lot of flash between the possibly delicate uprights of the rear car decks. I am using a brand new Xacto blade in the knife, but thank heavens for Dremel. Using relatively slow speeds, so that the saw does not slip out and cut the uprights, I have managed to get most of it out. Sadly there is not even a simple diagram, and although I can work it out, it would make things easier.

That is a very nice kit. Fortunately for my bank balance, I don't think it would look quite right on a rally track.

I think the concensus here about size is correct. It does fit 3 1/32 cars on it so I believe it is to scale, but it is LARGE!  The other issue is, I could not find any motor holder for the chassis, and while the cut out looks slot.it like, it it not. I looked at GTM site and I see the truck pictured there has a designated part to hold motor, and what appears to be a gearbox, but is not supplied with the kit. Strange.
Anyhow with some judicious filing and drilling, have fitted the slot.it part.

The saga continues......

Tony - George does say on the website that the transporter is designed as a static kit but can be motorised using the Chasecars gearbox. The only gearbox I could find on their website is in the link below :-

I should think any motor will struggle to move the thing with normal slot car gearing and you are going to need something with all the torque you can find.

Yo Anthony,
Paint the transporter red. Then apply Maserati branding to one side and Ferrari to the other. Two for the price of one, n'est pas?
