Fabulous! I am hoping that relatives will be ask to enter a car and follow the action Thumbup

All WHO racers have been emailed this afternoon, with a notice also going out on Facebook. We shall see what interest there is.

Hello Andy,
I would like to enter also. I suspect that you might get a lot of entries. Just sorting out tyres and hope to start prep-work next week.
I'm hoping that a Jaguar XJ220 is ok as a GT car in the Street-Stock category?

Here is Dylan and my entries for the Street Stock competition.

After writing a begging letter to Parmalat, they kindly offered to help with running costs of my car in exchange for a few stickers. Hope they know a few tricks compared to the regular fuel supplier of the car!

Will add some silicone tyres to the cars before they get shipped to the Rock County Raceway.

And I will prepare my Super Stock entries.

Welcome Clive Wavegreen  Not quite so far for those cars to travel...

A quick update for everyone who's interested...
  • I am looking to approach some companies that have supported other WHO and Rock County events to invite them to sponsor this perfectly socially-distanced slot racing series... There will be some prizes.
  • I'm thinking of a 5-event series with championship points, including a special event for the start of September.
  • In addition to the three classes, it would be good to include some Auto World 4-Gear match racing - ideally Nostagia (1970s) Funny Cars. If you have one (or more), let me know. The AW Funny Cars feature some of the icons of the sport, so it is a nice way of learning about the history of drag racing.
  • I shall definitely be running a trial event the weekend after next (16-17 May) to see how everything works. You are all very welcome to send cars.
And one final thing for now... if anyone would like a brand new Auto World T-Jet or 4-Gear car, I do order from time to time from Lucky Bob's in Milwaukee and Bad L's in Ohio. Let me know if you want anything. With postage and tax, the prices work out about £1 = $1. Sometime packages get through without tax from Lucky Bob (hence the name, perhaps?).

Postage & Packing and maximum social distancing

We're planning this racing as a safe way to have some fun during uncertain times. So absolutely no-one should be hanging around in post offices...

Looking through my stash of boxes, these two - one from Pendles, the other from Lucky Bob's - are perfect...

The Pendles box is 19cm x 11cm x 5.5cms and will fit at least six cars. It will even fit two Auto World Top Fuelers lengthways.

The Lucky Bob's box is 15.5cms x 15.5cms x 6cms and fits more 'normal' cars, but is not long enough for a Top Fueler...

Even if you are happy with going to a post office... I am not! I am in the high risk group for coronavirus, so I am currently relying on friends for shopping and posting stuff. We've trialled the boxes, labels and post box thing - and it works. Hopefully - after the end of June - I will be able to slip out after dark and deposit returning cars into a suitable post box.

This also means that boxes will be in quarantine here for 24 hours after arrival and the cars quarantined for 72 hours after the post mark. Practically, that means you posting - at the very latest - Friday/Saturday to arrive Monday. Ideally, aim for a Friday/Saturday arrival. The post seems to be working okay, but there have been delays - so err on the side of caution.

I usually pack each car in a small baggie - just in case anything gets wet in transit - plus some bubble wrap around the inside of the box to gently pack it out.

Your cars will be returned in the same box they arrived in. I will need to be reimbursed for return postage via PayPal. Each way should cost £2.95 online - Royal Mail second class. So the 'race fee' payable to me is £2.95 per box.

I can keep cars here between races if you don't need to work on them. I'm happy to follow instructions for maintenance etc.

I was planning on ringing your doorbell and running away. Leaving the cars on the doorstep of course.

And not a flaming bag of dog poo which is what is normally on peoples doorsteps once someone has rung the bell and legged it!

My race tyres arrived this morning, blimey they are small!

No cars yet, in transit somewhere...probably in an actual Transit.
