Front Engined Slot Cars
#11

We have had at least one front-motored race win at WHO/digital*. We also use the 6-car Advanced powerbase with updated firmware, so a Surechange guide will work fine. If you message Mr Modifier, he’ll probably be able to source them for you here in the UK.

The key is weight distribution and rear grip. For some classes at WHO, I’d say forget it. But the Goodwood classes with standard 18k motors and gearing, it’ll be a fun challenge. What car are you looking at?

* Alex’s Fly Ferrari GTO in our old Goodwood Revival class.

So what do you see? I find that if I stare at a problem long enough, a solution often comes along!

If you’re thinking Kinrara Trophy... you can use a 3D printed chassis that puts the motor at the back. There’s a list of eligible chassis in the build guidelines.

I am willing to try anything except use a 3D chassis that will mean I will need to buy loads of paint and learn how to decorate a lexan interior!

(I even wondered about buying a pre-painted driver and gluing it to the beautiful black vacuum formed interior of the GTO)

I see 2 cars that will sit on my shelf until I make a plan to visit a club where these might fit.
The Fly Oreca Vipers are quite good looking cars.

Mid 90s ,
- Too old for modern GT type racing (against NSR C7R etc)
- Too young to be considered classic GT and would be mugged by a horde of ThunderSlot Lola's

I've been reading Alexis' link. Very informative  Yes

I have done a reasonable search on the matter, but can anyone confirm whether the MRRC ac cobra hardtop MC12006 is front motored or inline?

The kits seem to use the inline Sebring chassis but other pictures of the RTR car seem to suggest a motor at the front...

Thanks.

The one I have (the orange #19 one - MC12005) has a Sebring chassis and the slimline FF motor. The earlier open-top Cobras had their own chassis with a front-mounted S-Can motor. I'm pretty sure the body is the same, apart from the hard top and would imagine the chassis will be interchangeable?

Thanks. Like you say, I imagine red #20 is a similar inline layout to orange #19, with the earlier incarnation of the model having the front motor.

Now where did I see a front motored E-Type...?
