Googled it, looked in Sportsracingcars online - could not see a car with that specific ownership or sponsorship..

Fandangled way of saying would love to see pics of the car. Rofl
Tut, tut, you are supposed to read the entire thread! See the very first line Cool

@Abie: It is always good with a picture, especially for those who don't read so well! Bigsmile

This is what I am looking at.

And this is the first faltering steps, don't judge too hard. Still a lot to do.
So if Al is Colin Chapman in this game, I play the role of Williams & Pritchard.

Hmmmmm.......Need to think about how (and if) to get into a "win or break" mode

Carver sent me a photo of the shell as it is now with an 050 inside - it will be close. There are a series of dimensions to be "stacked" to determine O/A width:

Length of motor over endbell and bearing
width of wheel over boss X 2
width of spur gear over boss
width of pinion? depends on the above.

If the "stack" is too wide, there are two possibilities in the sidewinder configuration that are, incidentally, poles apart (no pun intended)

An 030 motor solves the width problem but sacrifices torque, braking and, possibly reliability
A standard FC 130 can with end bell drive can be effectively "shorter" than an 050 because  a recess can be cut into the plastic end bell to accommodate the hub of the spur gear. - potential issues - an FC 130 is 15.6 mm high.  Based on 19mm tire diameter, this leaves only 1.7 mm ground clearance OK for my local rules ( 3/64") but I don't know about other venues.

Wheels and gears in transit - it's now up to the post.

Take the gear dia. and multiply by 2.......subtract 2 from this total

Eg, (A 6.5mm pinion)...........6.5 x 2 = 13.....subtract 2  = 11........."perfect" tooth count (closest to .5 module)  for a 6.5mm .5 module pinion is 11T.

In my experience you can deviate about 10% either way  from "perfect" on any gear without issue......so.... for a 6.5mm pinion (11T "perfect"),...you can use either a 10T or a 12T.......any more/less and there are mesh issues.

Hello Chris
That's a perfect quote/formula to use in the SRO slot car Manual..can we?

With kind regards

Anthony, Apparently someone has !!, at least twice, as these are 2 different builds cars ...........I stole this from Google Images..."Lotus 23 Porsche".......part of the "Old Irish Racing Collection" ???

I suspect the first pic. is of a static car, but, the second is definitely a slot car,......I have seen it before !!.......maybe one of the Fein design kits built up, so, probably 1/24 scale.

Cheers
